I had a Commodore 64 as my first computer....I think that my calculator now has more power then that beast.... ![]() My first was a BBC model B - with 32KB RAM I've no idea what clock speed it ran at but I don't think it was measured in GHz Are you one of these 'rig jockies' or do you have a corporate arsenal crunching away? |

Everything that I run, I own...I try and build two new systems a year....I have three girls so each has their own computer...The rest are on a kvm switch and are mostly used for just crunching....I live in Orlando, Florida but work in South Florida during the week...I also keep two computers running at my place down south and the laptop floats between the two spots....I try and keep 10 computers running but I am one shy right now due to old age...I did not want to replace it due to all the trouble at Ud but since this is my new home, I shall start shopping for a new computer soon...Now you know the whole story...How many computers do you command????..

Jeez, that's some arsenal you have
I have a laptop (Sony of course), plus 2 desktops that were bought straight from the shop. They currently reside elsewhere on WCG You sound like you know your way round the inside of these things; can you recommend any good sites where a complete noob could go to learn how to build one from the 'raw materials'? I fancy having a go, none of this overclocking rigmarole though. If I want faster I'll buy a faster chip - makes more sense to me. |

tell 'em about your intel big VAIO, he'll be really excited to hear that! ![]() The Mousie is just trying to stir the pot some...Most of us run AMD chips since they seem to perform better crunching...It is an old and heated debate about which is better but we all know that AMD is king... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 23, 2005 10:59:33 PM] |

I am positive that you couls ask any question you might have right here on this forum...Also a few of us call a place known as Base Camp http://s2.excoboard.com/exco/index.php?boardid=3749 our home...You could always ask a question or two there....And if all else fails and I don't have a clue what I am doing I go to my old stand-by http://www.pcqanda.com ...... ![]() |
