----------------------------------------<OT>Sekerob, congrats on reaching 20K posts </OT>Sekerob is the king of posting - as he's posted over twice as many items as the next person (Didactylos - 9472, then Jean Pierre. on 9114). Do you have any time for anything else??? </OT> ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Dec 14, 2010 3:04:47 PM] |

On Nov. 8 we recorded the first Half PetaFlops day. Yesterday, Dec 9, was already the 9th such day. Our 21 day mean is 490 TFL so it might even happen before the end of the years, well ahead of next years summer lull. Crunch On. We will encounter two opposing forces now. Christmas and year end holidays will reduce crunching and low temps will increase crunching. But I am afraid the climate will loose. Congratulations Sek for your 20'000 posts. This means 4'000 posts per year or 11 posts/day every day, 365 days a year. That is a real performance. At that level your qualifier should be CA DemiGOD. The topmost level GOD is reached at 100'000 posts, that is for you in 2030. Coraggio ancora uno piccolo sforzo e ci sei ![]() ![]() |

First "post holidays" record at 540 TFL, the 60 day sustained is now standing at 487.6 TFL.
If there are Grid records to be broken, then watch Mondays totals, when many business/college machines come out of hibernation to report all those tasks that were just not finished on Friday. ==//== |

Pretty amazing numbers for us but hard to believe that all of us working together is still less then the most powerful super computer on earth!

if WCG utilized GPU's then our numbers would be much higher. The current record holder for the fastest supercomputer achieved it's title by combining CPU and GPU computing.

"If", is the operative word... "If" we could get more members to remain active, though reading of rolling e-power in some states of the USoA, we'll be there quite a bit ahead of projections to show of a shiny 0.5 PetaFlops machine:
Last Day TeraFlops: 502 Last 7 Day Average TFL: 498.5 Last 7 Day Record TFL: 506.3 Running 21 Day Average: 498.0 Running 60 Day Average TFL: 489.4 Could not be that hard to get those few extra TFLs... run WCG only, maybe ,-) Crunching On (76 CPU days so far on DDDT2 from the current wave) |

Could not be that hard to get those few extra TFLs... run WCG only, maybe ,-) Can't do that, but easing away from climate a bit, added 4 more cores and a few changes elsewhere might see a slight rise in CPU performance, if a few others do the same ;P[Edit 1 times, last edit by skgiven at Feb 6, 2011 8:59:06 PM] |

Milestone: The now 21 day sustained 0.502 Petaflops running machine helped us pass the 600 millionth validated result sometime yesterday afternoon. Exactly 600 182 723 it was as of mid-night UTC

February 13, 2011 is on record as the first Sunday we ran as a 0.500 PetaFLOPS machine, or to be precise, 500.2 TeraFLOPS.
----------------------------------------The 21 day mean above 0.5 PetaFLOPS has now been sustained by 7 days more i.e. 28 days held steady. Crunch On. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 14, 2011 2:40:46 PM] |

Pretty amazing numbers for us but hard to believe that all of us working together is still less then the most powerful super computer on earth! I'm not so sure. The most powerful supercomputer takes
- it's more like a Google warehouse full of them. You can equally well think of the most powerful supercomputer as quite similar to WCG, but with the advantages of
Even then, the most powerful supercomputer is still only about five times faster than WCG. From that perspective, I think WCG is actually doing pretty good ![]() PS: To be fair I guess we should mention that supercomputers can do things that WCG or Google warehouses simply cannot do. That's why they keep building them. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 14, 2011 2:28:28 PM] |
