What does ready to report mean?

I am new to this. I have noticed that my jobs have completed and the status is "ready to report". My system is running 7x24 and is connected to the internet 7x24. Do I need to do anything to report the information?
Thanks in advance. tc

Re: What does ready to report mean?

Hi tygecawthon, welcome to WCG and the forums biggrin

When a Work Unit (WU) completes the BOINC Manager uploads the output to the server. When the upload completes the WU status in the BOINC Manager becomes "Ready to Report". If you use the default, recommended settings the next time the Manager requests work from the server the completed WU(s) will be reported and the WU will drop off the Tasks panel. Normally you don't have to do anything for the WU to be reported as complete.

There is 1 considuration. If you have set the Projects panel to "No New Tasks" the Manager will not ask for new work, and won't report the WU complete. If this is the case, or if the Manager seems to be taking a very long time to report you can select the "Update" command on the Projects Panel to have the WU reported on.

Also, the above assumes you are in "Advanced" view. If you are using "Simple" view I don't know how to force the update.

This is covered in great detail in the FAQ's. see http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16783

Hope this helps and Happy Crunching biggrin biggrin

Re: What does ready to report mean?

FAQ has just been updated for the conditions of automatic reporting. Even if there is no work-fetch, the latest clearing should be 24 hours after a task is done (old and still valif rule). One added item is that WCG tells clients to call home every 48 hours (network availability depending). That seems to be also a moment when RtR's are cleared as is an update instruction by Account Managers.

In short: Don't worry. The most important part, the actual result data files go immediately to the servers if network line is open. The RtR part is a confirmation record after all data has been verified to be on the servers in goods order.
