I got the WCG - Exciting News & Updates email today, and read it for about the first time in years.
----------------------------------------It says I haven't returned a result since Jan 2007. When I log on to the website that shows the same info. However, I still have BOINC running and its statistics show that I am still gathering points. What's going wrong? thanks in anticipation Ian [Edit 2 times, last edit by ifd001 at Sep 27, 2010 7:26:46 AM] |

Are you sure you don't have two accounts? According to your public stats, it seems that you have returned your last results in 2007

well I wondered that, but I can't see from the BOINC client how to find what account it thinks its using. I only got the one email, and my password vault only has this ID.

Open the BOINC client and change to Advanced view. Then click the Projects tab and you should see your username by project in Account column.

In Simple View, hover with mouse over the WCG Icon/logo near bottom and the project name, user name and credits are shown (credits times 7 is points).

yes it thinks I'm IBM. How can I re-associate with my original ID?

In that advanced view, projects tab, select WCG and hit detach, but first stop work fetch and abort all tasks or let them finish. Then in the Tools or Advanced Menu select "attach to project", scroll down to find WCG, select, say you're already a member and enter your name/pw just as would you sign in on the website.
----------------------------------------I think in Simple view right clicking on the WCG icon also allows detaching, but I can't as I've set some account management options.

thanks for the help but I seem to have screwed-up. I now have no projects and I can't attach to a project ... what do you suggest?

Go to the C:\program files\boinc directory and see if there is a cc_config.xml and delete (IBM via group install may have disabled attaching), then uninstall BOINC. Then fetch a new copy of 6.2.28 client from the website and run install. That should offer you an automated way to re-attach to WCG.
