txyankee, and why shouldn't crunchers with 'less umph' not get a chance at being a 'guru' - after all, they've put in the required time and effort to meet the published requirements. Just because they don't have the resources in available processor power (for whatever reason - for me, it's cost - having been out of work for over 2 years, curtesy of an IBM 'rationalisation plan').
----------------------------------------Also, by seeing people with a lower performance than those right at the top of the charts, gives new people hope that, one day, they too could reach 'Guru' level. ![]() |

Also, by seeing people with a lower performance than those right at the top of the charts, gives new people hope that, one day, they too could reach 'Guru' level. Hmm- *new* crunchers can crunch for 12 badges (without Beta)- so they missed 10 badges. 96- 10%= 86,4 rounding 86 =90% rule ok = 97 badges incl Beta needed. Could take some decades. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Mathilde2006 at Sep 14, 2012 4:10:05 PM] |

Okay Mathilde2006, I get your point - but, it IS possible that they could reach Guru - even if they've got a single core machine (and not dozens as the top most crunchers will have). Also, they'd have to be around for a minimum of 6 years in any case, so as to meet the 'Senior' requirement... Who knows as to how many projects WCG could launch in that time...

----------------------------------------Could you add me to your list please? Thanks

There is no difference between single core and server farm. 97 bronze badges and more than six years is all you need. The problem is not, how many new projects will start in future. The problem is- how many projects did the cruncher miss in the past. For each missing project, someone must crunch 10 other projects. Sample: CFSW is running out of work in the next days. = new crunchers will now don't have 11 badges 11 badges = 10% = 106- 10%= 95,4 - rounding 95 = 90% rule ok + Beta = 107 badges needed In one year, there should be three other projects finished. 14 badges missing Now 137 badges are needed and so on... ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by Mathilde2006 at Sep 14, 2012 5:22:01 PM] |

And that is the point. To be "guru", you have to be able to talk from your own experiences about almost all of them.
----------------------------------------I think SNUK's system is fair. For us, who have started later and missed some sub-project and do not own rig farms, there are lot of goals to achieve :-) Cheers and NI! ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Shrubbing@Home since January 5 2006 ![]() |

Could take some decades The point you have missd is that it is not your call. You don't get to decide who SNURK calls a guru. You didn't write the software and you dont maintain it. Feel free to comment. Besides you're not the first to point this out to SNURK. It is what it is. |

That's correct, having the badge quantity is enough, no matter what level... you can be proud to say you've been crunching at WCG from the early days and regularly. The globe ranking is indiscriminate of what badge... 1 or 22, if you've put in 44 years, it's sapphire with the multiplicators for triple and X sapphire. If a new badge is added it requires 46 and on and on... an alternate incentive for the ranking driven crunchers to keep going at WCG, but could not be here at the beginning. :D Crunch On You are right about that! There's a new member of X sapphire with only 2 badges!!! |

Hi SNURK,
When I look at my signature I only get SORRY. This person moved or deleted this image. What must I do to get my signature back? Regards, William |
