As far as I understand SNURK's awards, for achieving "Guru" status it is not needed to have 90% of your badges in blue, but simply 90% of total badges ever issued in WCG (i.e. 20 badges of 22 ever possible).
----------------------------------------For example, lowest ranked "Guru" cruncher is BKraayev 325th http://www.sig.net78.net with with total 20 badges of which there is only one blue - http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af195/wcgsig/72830.gif Cheers an NI! ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. That's correct, having the badge quantity is enough, no matter what level... you can be proud to say you've been crunching at WCG from the early days and regularly.
The globe ranking is indiscriminate of what badge... 1 or 22, if you've put in 44 years, it's sapphire with the multiplicators for triple and X sapphire. If a new badge is added it requires 46 and on and on... an alternate incentive for the ranking driven crunchers to keep going at WCG, but could not be here at the beginning. :D Crunch On |

Crunch On 42 is enough - Beta is not included in Globe colour calculation, so there are "only" 21 projects :-) ... an alternate incentive for the ranking driven crunchers to keep going at WCG, but could not be here at the beginning. :D... There's no fault. It's very much a stumble on knowing about Volunteer Distributed Computing.
90% of 22 to be guru but 21x2 to have sapphire globe is indeed the rule. |

I started VDC back in Jan 2000 with SAH Classic, then moved to BONIC in 2005. Since WCG has not been a part of BOINC at the early beginnings, I have missed it. When I came back this year in June after 6 years off in VDC, I "discovered" WCG and stuck with it (for a long time I guess).

That's correct, having the badge quantity is enough, no matter what level... you can be proud to say you've been crunching at WCG from the early days and regularly. Indeed, it should be nearly impossible to get the crown of the Guru, when someone missed the early stages. You need 90% of the badges plus Beta. Currently we have 22 badges = 21 without Beta. 21- 10%= 19 needed With new projects 22-10%=20 badges 23-10%=21 badges ... 26-10%= 23 badges (three projects can be missing) So I don't have four badges= Guru, when I own 37 (!!!) badges = 36 badges -10% = 32,4 rounding 32 - yeah 90% reached plus Beta badge= 37 badges. ![]() ![]() |

IMHO It looks kind of funny to see so many senior's and guru's way down in the ranks...don't appear to be much of a guru if ya know what I mean! But oh well; such is life
