Re: Show us your Boinc Benchmarks. ( Comparison )

It is very strange. There is over 20% difference in benchmark scores between the Boinc Manager that is available to download from the WCG site and the one from the BOINC site for Win 64 bit. The Boinc site version score better. It scores also better in terms of points. I suppose both are 64 bit versions. So why such a difference. Is it due to my rig that is particularly better suited to the Boinc version?

Re: Show us your Boinc Benchmarks. ( Comparison )

These Whetstone & Dhrystone are synthetic benchmarks which doesn't give absolute performance report. Only real world application give a much better measure of performance on a given system.

A system with low whetstone & dhrystone may out perform a system with high values on a given application. just think about that. wink

Like how if you used bionc 5.xxx to benchmark a system under linux and windows, you will see that the linux system numbers are only about 1/2 of the windows numbers, yet most WUs run a lot faster under linux.

Bionc 6.xxx benchmarks are under linux are better but it is still slightly lower then under windows.

Numbers don't lie, but how we determine and use the numbers are misleading.

WCG only has a 32-bit BOINC-client for windows, while the BOINC-site also has a 64-bit BOINC-client.

which doesn't give absolute performance report.

X-files 27, I completely agree with that. I was speaking in relative terms to compare. In the end yes what counts is the effective work. I will now compare over few days and see if there is an impact on the crunching performance.
