Re: many errors onnly in THIS project

Hi viewer,

this line in one of your result logs

too many exit(0)s

strongly suggests something is (still) interfering. Most often it's something that stops the core client and the science to talk to each other for longer than 30 seconds. Could be Kaspersky too or a firewall if any. Open ports 80, 443 and 31416 to boinc.exe boincmgr.exe boinccmd.exe boincscr.exe and boinc.scr as well as their free use of the localhost ip address 127.0.0.1. See help and the FAQ's in Start Here for more detail.

Re: many errors onnly in THIS project

Suspect that this science app is a little bit more sensitive to "outside agencies", so all we can do is making sure that exceptions are set in AV and Firewall. Think some AVs or Firewalls such as Comodo have a pop-up appearing when a new science app is loaded, with an option to permit and to remember that decision. I have no firewalls anymore in software terms. My Router NAS does supplemental configs in there makes it pretty impossible to get through without me knowing and then I get mail... twice in the past 8 months, from Russia with Love, snooping all the ports that are set to not respond. The router runs Linux ;-)

Re: many errors onnly in THIS project

Well, that is too serious and I think it is almost to be a bug. Can we report this to the team of Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2, for a call for update/debug their program?

Oh my, I have 4 computers, and for each one if I have to open port 80, 443 and 31416(TCP or UDP or both?) assign for each antivirus and router side?

4(pc)x3(ports)x2(protocols)x2(firewalls)=48 times, OH MY GOD... Orz

Re: many errors onnly in THIS project

The Team is all too aware, since this version was released several months ago to fix the 401 error, now replaced by the 711 error, except this one shows 90% less. At 2000 a day before this makes it 200 a day now, on 75,000 results daily. It most always happens near the beginning within 2 minutes, so the computing loss is like 4 hours on 50 CPU years daily. Very poor economics to address that. The recommendation thus is that if there are too many, to deselect this science in one of the 4 profiles and attach the client to that profile.

Port 31416 is used for the client RPC calls over TCP. The 443 is needed for HTTPS connection to WCG, outward only if you are concerned and if you really like to nail it down IP 198.20.8.241+6. Port 80 is usually open to the browser traffic already.
