Re: Welcome to the Computing for Clean Water project!

Today and the days and weeks after we look to the far east and for those in the Americas, furthest East. Yesterday we did 37 CPU years on Clean Water, a research day-record. Expecting 45 today is not staking it high I think.

Crunching On for safely drinkable water for all of us, not a single soul excluded and there are billions presently that don't have access to it or afford it.

Great news! Yes, I love this project, too, and am grateful for the opportunity to participate.

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Clean Water project!

Could somebody help me?

I don't know whether BOINC on my laptop is working on this project. I went to advanced view and saw projects for cancer, muscular dystrophy, and the human proteome folding (that's the one that's currently downloading), but I see nothing about the clean water project. When I went to add a project I didn't see anything listed for water.

Does anybody know the actual name or URL of this clean water project?

Hi depecheserver,

Clean Water is part of WCG, so plz go to My Grid > My Projects and select CfCW. There are enough, just that the 'weight' is lower and everyone having this one selected grabbing them all, presently leaving little to nothing for the pool of mix crunchers. So, deselect everything but the Clean Water research and your next new work will be this one.

Welcome to WCG and thanks for volunteering your free CPU cycles.

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Clean Water project!

Greetings from the US Pacific Northwest, coastal Washington state.

Rejoined WCG after minimal participation a couple years ago. Yesterday's email touched one of my major concerns, water. It was also nice to see a Chinese university enjoy the power inherent in distributed computing. (And, I confess to a bit of prejudice -- my youngest son married a very nice Chinese lady when he was teaching in a Beijing university.)

Slow start, however, because the Quad-core box slated to support CCW is burdened with CPDN Beta work that will take more than a week to clear. (I find that mixing CPDN's longer Tasks with short work gives boinc fits [High Priority for the short Tasks] and makes Prefs management problematic. [That's why I 'dropped out' of WCG earlier.]) Then, CCW gets a Quad, and I will someday 'fix' the unbalance in client_state.

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Clean Water project!

The news that Haiti, with all it`s problems, now has confirmed cholera victims, shows how urgent C4CW is to the world.

Let`s give our very best efforts to this project.
