Re: Welcome to the Computing for Clean Water project!

Hi Happy to take part.

BUT

Will the results be available free of charge for the benefit of humanity, or to increase the profits of the project organisers.

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Clean Water project!

JohnR,

All projects on World Community Grid must be made available free of charge for the benefits of humanity. This is one of the keystone requirements for submitting a project to WCD.

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Clean Water project!

That IS a sigh question. No one gets on JohnR unless WCG policy compliant and was a likely reason a last proposal did not pass. The resulting DB MUST be publicly accessible, papers of findings MUST be produced and IBM/WCG will dog the scientists and research groups even when it takes years to get it what we contributed for. Science of course can't be hastened, lest we want to declare a Manhattan on this particular project :O

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Clean Water project!

Thank you for bringing this project here. As one who has taught some wilderness survival skills to the local Boy Scouts for quite a few years it is hard to emphasize enough the importance of clean water. It's too easy to forget here in the industrialized world that for much of the earth's population it is a daily problem.

Here's wishing you lots of luck in your search for a simple solution. I'll be more than happy to donate my spare time to the project.

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Clean Water project!

I am one of the members of the translation team of EQUN.com , the biggest distributed computing information website in Chinese.

Feel free to browse our forum: http://www.equn.com/forum/

Now there are more and more online computers in China but most of their CPUs are idle! Our website was built to provide distributed computing information in Chinese, which contains a newbie guide series, a general introduction site and an online discussion forum.

We have successfully translated many distributed computing websites, and most of them are officially recognized as the only official chinese language translation.
