Well friends,
----------------------------------------I have moved a few loads over to the new house. (small pickup) One of my computers is shut down, and the alienware is not accepting any new tasks, should be done this afternoon. Still leaves two crunchers online for a week. Next saturday is the Official big move. At least the weather is mostly cooperating (snowed last thursday Transformers blowing sparks flying off the power lines, 15 cars or so in the ditch and one snow plow LOL) Edit: 10th April, Ok 2 computers are shut off. We are in 6th for both challenges. One we are NOT going to move up, The snail challenge maybe, not sure... Anyway some good news, having an electrician put in 4 more outlets in the basement, there was only one outsite the furnace room. So I can set up all 4 computers come Saturday, and the cable/internet/phone guy is coming Sat too! I almost made it to rank 700 (707 today) I started the year around 900 or 1000? When we start GPU crunching, I think a lot of people are going to pass me up. One mediocre computer with a good graphics card and they willl shoot by me. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Jack007 at Apr 10, 2012 2:07:38 PM] |

Good to hear that things are progressing with your house Jack (even though 2 comps are shut off atm)!
----------------------------------------Yea, for GPU crunching I will need a new GPU. At the moment there is no rush to buy a new card. better to let AMD/Nvidia stabilize their prizes as more cards from the new HD7000/GTX600-series reach the shelves. Wondering about what will be better for crunch...Nvidia has been good on GPGPU, but the new GTX600 only has 2GB of memory (unless buying a more expensive custom model with 4GB). Generally it faster though when it comes to games compared to the HD7970 from AMD. But AMD 7970 has 3GB ram in standard config. And ram is quite important on GPU for GPU crunching as I have understood...will have to find some stats from other GPU crunching projects and try to figure out what will be better... ![]() Join The International Team: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=CK9RP1BKX1 AMD TR2990WX @ PBO, 64GB Quad 3200MHz 14-17-17-17-1T, RX6900XT @ Stock AMD 3800X @ PBO AMD 2700X @ 4GHz |

Must be summer (ish)
----------------------------------------It snowed last sat all day while moving. This coming sunday supposed to be 19 (66F) I see we have a new project. Perhaps if JP sees this he can issue a challenge for the new project (just looked didn't see one). Anyway, it's nice being there and putz around staying out of the way while my wife is 'nesting'. ![]() |
