Boinc 6.10.58

Checked the FAQ's and it looked like a Chamber of Horror ... devilish

I need the newest and stable Boinc Client for my 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate (I presently am using the 64-bit 6.10.18 Boinc Client).

Saw this at at the boinc.berkeley.edu website:

Windows7 64-bit
Boinc 6.10.58 Recommended version Download (8.77 MB) 6 July 2010

Is this recommended here?

Thx and Ciao! wink

I don't think it's officially recommended. However, I can tell you I'm using it with no problems.

I don't think that answers my question, I am not using LINUX. Maybe one of the WCG techs will see my original post. Thx anyway. wink

Re: Boinc 6.10.58

I put it on two machines (1 32-bit XP & 1 64-bit Win7). I have had no problems with it. The only problem I had is that my virus program detects it as a threat and shuts down the install. confused I had to unplug from the net, turn off anitvirus and then it installed just fine. I will put it on the other machines eventually.

Thanks, Dataman. Looks like you need a rest lugging all that tent equipment in that pic. laughing

Using Microsoft Security Essentials and I am surprised how well it works (not using Windows Defender),. I should not have any probs with that. Do I need to re-install or should I just write over my present 6.10.18?

BTW, what AV are you using? Just curious because it tried to stop your install. thinking

I have downloaded 6.10.58 and will wait to hear about a fresh install or the 'write over'.

Aloha! cool

Gotta like those Hawaiians. Aloha means both 'Hello' and 'Goodbye'. biggrin

I use Panda for both virus and firewall. It's not well known in the USA. Have used it for 4 years as it is much less expensive than McAfee when you have to buy a bunch of seat licenses. money eyes

The install replaces your current BOINC version whether it is running or not. You do not have to shut down BOINC or reboot. cool

Re: Boinc 6.10.58

Well...it must be a Panda thing because I have installed this version of BOINC on systems with Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, Avast versions 4 and 5, Norton 360, and CA antivirus. None of them had any troubles installing.
