BOINC Manager fails to Attach

Hi All.

My BOINC Manager will now allow me to connect or attach to a Project. The menu option under "Tools" is greyed out, and the Wizard in the Simple view GUI allows me to input my login details however an error stating "Failed to Attach to Project. An error has occurred, check Messages for details". Unfortunately, no informative messages are to be found.

I have attempted reinstallations and configuring firewall exceptions. I am using the client on a network with another system that is also running BOINC, so i'm thinking there may be some sort of network conflict.

Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: BOINC Manager fails to Attach

If that's the WCG skinned kit, suggest an uninstall, a delete of all files in program files/BOINC and the data_dir if not in there and re-install, making sure the option in the installer is chosen for All Users. See screenshots in this FAQ, point 3 for 6.2.28. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,28971

Run from an account with administrative rights. In Windows 7 and Vista that's easy, just right click and say execute as administrator... can't remember how it was in XP.

edit: PS, don't forget that boot that was asked for first time (was it?) so all permissions can be passed on.

Re: BOINC Manager fails to Attach

Morning! Right so i uninstalled, deleting the program files directory. All users checked (I am using the administrator account), ran as administrator as well. Unfortunately nothing.

Went in then an deleted application data files and that seemed to fix it. Thanks for the help! :)
