The Windows launch (and subsequent Mac launch) will come soon enough. Why is everyone so impatient? Because the project is nearly 20% completed and most of us haven't been able to participate. Maybe the Windows launch won't come soon enough. There are plenty of other wonderful projects on which you can devote your computers' time! I am just grateful to be able to help such worthwhile causes. Cheers ![]() ![]() |

As sand through your fingers, yesterdays stats showing a record WU validation for this research:
----------------------------------------Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) - Day 5:343:23:24:25 Points Generated - Day 6,225,291 Results Returned - Day 9,382 To think that CEP1 ran for 10.5 months and did not get above 7 years per day average and CEP2 is thought to have more... Run Time Per Calendar Day (y:d:h:m:s) 7:029:19:31:21 Run Time Per Result (y:d:h:m:s) 0:000:10:02:45 Points Per Hour of Run Time 95.76 Points Per Calendar Day 5,940,594.91 Points Per Result 962.00 Results Per Calendar Day 6,175.24 Good time to burn a Live CD of Ubuntu Lucid Lynx LTS 10.04.1, install it to an existing Windows drive which has a good chunk of spare space, say 50GB and install. Takes an hour tops to include fetching BOINC from the Ubuntu Software Center and you'll be able to dual boot as and when you please. See several Linux thread on this topic in the Chat Room... lets not dilute this thread on that matter.

Better not get left out! ![]() |

well i would like to see the windows launch sometime soon... i understand they are having some problems with it right now in house.
----------------------------------------is this project really 20% complete already??? as for installing linux on my systems right now there is only 1 system i could do that on (out of 3) and to be honest i am not going for a perfect badge completion so if i miss 1 more badge its not going to hurt too much... still have about 2 weeks before the current two projects i am working on hit gold and from then i would love another project to chew into... if not i will start working up some rubies probably c4cw first. would love an offical idea/update on this i know the new update time might not be met but may give a few of us a little time to sit there and not going well its another day past july 17th.. ok well c4cw is out now.... ok so there are some issues in house. . . i feel like johnny-5 .... I know the techs are incredibly busy (no doubt, far more busier than any of us can imagine), so I understand perfectly if they don't get around to replying - but, I'll second nasher's comment;

20% complete already?
I just created dual boot with Ubuntu on one machine so I could get started. I may do that with a few others although it's kind of a pain. I hope they decide to still release the Windows and Mac versions. |

If the small set of linux devices here on WCG can complete 20% of the project in 2.5 months, I wonder if there's really a need to launch the Windows and Mac version.
----------------------------------------![]() Edit: Of course, there's a chance that the 20% estimate is wrong and we do need the Win/Mac version. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 9, 2010 9:33:44 PM] |
