I was wondering why the work unit names changed from X000008xxxxx to X000003xxxxx.
Do the work unit names go down as we go along, or up? Also, sometimes I'll get a work unit that is due quickly, such as in a few days, instead of 9-10 days. Not a problem, since I crunch work units 24/7, but I was curious...is this due to faulty results being returned from someone else's computer, so the work unit got sent to me instead? |

Several times in the past I have asked similar questions, and theanswer always has been that WUs don't necessarily come in any specific order. So maybe there is an better explanation, but you shouldn't expect anything spectacular.
----------------------------------------For your second question you might want to have a look at the FAQ where it is explained. Regards, Martin |

Hello fluxdispersal,
Also, sometimes I'll get a work unit that is due quickly, such as in a few days, instead of 9-10 days. Not a problem, since I crunch work units 24/7, but I was curious...is this due to faulty results being returned from someone else's computer, so the work unit got sent to me instead? Our research occasionally identifies certain priority work units, but most of the jumps in work unit numbering occur for boring, non-scientific reasons, such as how the data is organized in our archives. The numbers will stay in the X000003xxxxx series for a while, then jump to another sequence.
Thanks for the crunching! Christian |
