Re: "locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1" - can't upload

All other uploads are working fine, just this WU seems to be stuck for about 1 day:

I have one of these now, too... 12 cores total, and this is the first one. It's been trying for at least 24 hours.

Make that 'at least 48 hours' now.

Still the same story, though I did turn on more logging messages:

Re: "locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1" - can't upload

Mine is 6 days and counting...

Restarting boinc did not help which is perhaps no a surprise since the error does not appear to on my machine (unless file_upload_handler runs does run here).

It is curious why the file_upload_handler has a -1 as the PID.

Re: "locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1" - can't upload

first I got this:
Tue 06 Jul 2010 07:26:34 AM EDT World Community Grid [error] Error reported by file upload server: [E200082_147_A.18.C15H8OSSe.14.set1d06_0_4] locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1

then it turns into:
Tue 06 Jul 2010 11:48:52 AM EDT World Community Grid [error] Error reported by file upload server: [E200082_147_A.18.C15H8OSSe.14.set1d06_0_4] error locking file

How can I upload this piece? the error seems in a loop.

Re: "locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1" - can't upload

I now have another machine (a dual core pentium laptop) with one of these (to go with the dual core AMD that already had one)... I'm turning this task off on everything until they figure it out; it's a waste of my bandwidth and resources to download the WUs and process them only to have the *_4 upload site refuse to accept the results file.

I'm thinking if they enabled reverse DNS at that site Sprint would stop disconnecting me during uploads, as well... apparently Sprint thinks they must be up to no good if they're hiding their domain name (even though you can easily look up 140.247.231.147 on http://networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp and see that Harvard has the entire 140.247.0.0 /16 block).

edit1: did not take. (another Sprint disconnect?)
edit2: added line breaks; moved final period after close parenthesis.

Re: "locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1" - can't upload

At this point is seems obvious that no one should select CEP2 for any computer that is at a remote location, at least for a while. We all need to be able to reboot/dislodge/reset/cancel/restart these jobs if they cannot be uploaded.

Its one thing to have a job error/abort for no credit but it is entirely different to have a system totally plugged until you can manually get the chicken bone out.

Re: "locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1" - can't upload

We are working on this, unfortunately, the logging of the file_upload_handler is a bit sparse, so we have added more logging to it to try to figure out what is going on.

We have three machines showing problems too with a total of 6 work units. 4 at one location on 1 pc and 2 at another location on 2 different computers.

Re: "locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1" - can't upload

I have one as well. As far as I can tell, it's been trying to upload for several days now. The rest of the smaller files uploaded just fine. I've rebooted the machine, re-started BOINC, and disabled and re-enabled network activity. Let me know if you need more detailed reports, I still have a couple days before the deadline.

Re: "locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1" - can't upload

I got also two:

E200017_359_A.15.C12H7NOS.163.set1d06_0_4: transient upload error
E200017_329_A.15.C12H7NOS.142.0.set1d06_1_4: transient upload error

Deadlinefor the units is 10th Juli 16:19 CEST.
I tried to reboot, restart BOINC, reconnect network without any success.
These are some of the very first units I received. Apart from those two units CEP2 works fine here.
