I've tried to ping your different IP and always: the delay is passt. You should not ping the IP rather the webaddresses given to see if they properly find the IP addresses that go with these. Sending you an exe... from the Marathon Man: "Is it save?" One day there was talk of a torrent like distribution, but I think that will not happen anytime soon. If you have access to another PC to which you have install rights, you could install BOINC there, associate the client to WCG and set the profile to get HCC only, then USB stick the file across... but it's really a case for the techs to help diagnose the issue. Are other WCG binaries an issue... for instance the smaller HCMD2?

Temporarily failed download of wcg_hcc1_img_6.08_windows_intelx86: HTTP error is the science application. These are one-off downloads long as the version does not change. The techs have to inject their knowledge here as to why it might fail. Doing a couple tests trying to download this file then set download-speed to 3 KB ("good" old modem-speed), the WCG-download times-out after 90 seconds each time. The download going past 100% is due to WCG doesn't support download-resuming, but always re-start at zero. Since the client isn't aware of this until the file is successfully downloaded, it will re-start at whatever point, and download the full file if doesn't time-out. So, if display isn't stopping at 100% downloaded, it will example re-start at 35%, and continue to 135% if successful. The 90-second timeout is likely a server-timeout, since testings on other BOINC-projects didn't time-out 20-minute downloads... So, taking 90-second timeout and no download-resuming together means a 3 KB download-speed is too slow to successfully download the file, and the download will never finish. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |

I've tested HCMD binaries, but always the same who failed.
----------------------------------------I can download files louder than that binary without problems, so it's not a bandwidth problem. .... 29/06/2010 18:43:23 World Community Grid Temporarily failed download of wcg_hcmd2_maxdo_6.14_windows_intelx86: HTTP error 29/06/2010 18:43:23 World Community Grid Backing off 9 min 22 sec on download of wcg_hcmd2_maxdo_6.14_windows_intelx86 29/06/2010 18:43:27 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. 29/06/2010 18:43:35 World Community Grid Started download of wcg_hcmd2_maxdo_6.14_windows_intelx86 29/06/2010 18:44:52 Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 29/06/2010 18:44:52 World Community Grid Temporarily failed download of wcg_hcmd2_maxdo_6.14_windows_intelx86: HTTP error 29/06/2010 18:44:52 World Community Grid Backing off 3 hr 37 min 10 sec on download of wcg_hcmd2_maxdo_6.14_windows_intelx86 29/06/2010 18:44:55 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. 29/06/2010 18:48:22 World Community Grid Started download of wcg_hcmd2_maxdo_6.14_windows_intelx86 29/06/2010 18:48:44 Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 29/06/2010 18:48:44 World Community Grid Temporarily failed download of wcg_hcmd2_maxdo_6.14_windows_intelx86: HTTP error 29/06/2010 18:48:44 World Community Grid Backing off 1 hr 0 min 45 sec on download of wcg_hcmd2_maxdo_6.14_windows_intelx86 29/06/2010 18:48:48 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
