Last night our hosting facility performed an update of some of the SAN (storage) infrastructure. Although it was designed to be non-impacting, it appears that performance of the storage system was reduced during the change.

As a result, our scripts that are designed to monitor for performance issues and disable uploads in the event that it appears that a problem is occurring did what they were supposed to do and disabled file uploads and notified the support team.

However, since we were sleeping at the time we were not able to respond to validate that performance had been restored and re-enable uploads until this morning.
