Re: BETA for type C's started.

If you don't mind, please allow them to run for up to 1 hour if still at 0% then cancel them...It really depends on the speed of the machine running them...If the machine is older, please allow up to 2 hours if you can.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Approaching 2 hrs and still 0%.
Going to dump them.

Re: BETA for type C's started.

We have stopped the C.pr work units from being sent out. Since these work units failed within seconds of starting we have also cleared them out of the db so we can monitor the error rate on the other work units. The C.pr work units are a "work unit" error and we will be in discussions with the researchers as to what went wrong with them.

Thanks for all the help on the Beta!

Re: BETA for type C's started.

Hi folks,

My easy to remember Linux client 1234035 got a few C's as did the duo on Windows 7-32... all scored 100%, even some validated.

cheers

Re: BETA for type C's started.

gb009761: The two WU's I picked up, seem to have restarted okay from a checkpoint (I stopped/restarted BOINC), and have reached 40% after 70 mins...

I just returned BETA_ts05_a004_pdb001_0, OK. I suspended it & resumed it from checkpoint successfully at about 97% complete.

Hint for anybody who performs a resume-from-checkpoint test:
There is no need to suspend BOINC or WUs running on other CPU cores. That would cause all WUs to lose the crunching time since they last checkpointed.
If you CLEAR "Leave applications in memory while suspended" in your BOINC Advanced view >> Advanced Menu >> Preferences > disk and memory usage tab, a restart from checkpoint will be forced if you suspend a WU, wait, say 30 seconds, and then resume it.
It is probably a good idea to monitor the task disappearing from the system task list before restarting it.
In Windows, you can monitor this with Task Manager, sorted on the Name field.
In Linux (+ Mac Unix?), ps will do if there isn't something fancier by now.
If you normally run with "Leave apps in mem" enabled, clear it temporarily and re-enable it after the resume-from-checkpoint test. - HTH

Re: BETA for type C's started.

again for the i think 5th or more beta sends in a row i have missed receiving any beta's on any of my 3 machines.

yes i have the beta box checked and yes i have done beta's in the past.

dose anyone have a checklist of other things i should make sure to find out reasons i might not be getting beta's when they come out or am i just being unlucky on receiving beta's?

Re: BETA for type C's started.

I am pleased to see that some people received some. My trotline did not snag any. I must sharpen the hooks or change bait. biggrin

You could double check that you have set a short enough return time?

I've received 2 even with my E6300, it brought my BETA achievement significantly forward - to 21 hours total now. laughing

Regards,
Martin
