No new tasks for almost a week [RESOLVED]

As the title says i am recieving no new tasks for WCG. I am however getting new tasks for seti and running 2 tasks for climate prediction these are 200 plus hours each to completion.
My projects include everything from WCG and i have the box's ticked for give me anything if main projects not available. I completed 15 tasks in the period between april 21st and about May 1st then no more WCG tasks have arrived since the last one was returned successfully. I tried reset project, updated regularly but to no avail. I get this message when updating

05/05/2010 11:32:02|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks.
Why am i requestion 0 tasks?

All was fine nothing has changed here so anyone have any ideas why i have no new tasks coming in? Could it be the long term climate tasks giving a prb?
Any advice appreciated thanks.

Re: No new tasks for almost a week

What version of client are you running?

If WCG had too large a share of the computing time, the client will stop fetching work until the other active projects have had their share, but what I found was that projects with short run times and short deadlines confuse the client scheduler so I've set switch times now from default 60 minutes to 35 minutes i.e. shorter than the shortest total run time of a task and the cache smaller that the shortest deadline, with is sometimes just 2 days.

With client version 6.10 you can go to the project tab, select e.g. WCG and hit the properties button. That will tell if WCG has a positive or negative Scheduling priority and same for CPU work fetch and deferral. If those are zero or negative, then no work will be requested.

Resetting WCG does set those values to zero or close to it, but if the other projects have positive values the client still will not go out.

How to force the issue: Suspend work fetch of your other projects and wait a bit or give WCG a bigger Resource Share/Project Weight. The default for all is 100. Set it to e.g. 500 and WCG gets more time allocated.

CPDN could hog your CPU but that would be indicated by a High Priority processing message. I only allow one task of them at the time, and low resource share so it gets about 1 hour a day, 300 hours projected as total run time. The task after 4 months has done 6 days [144 hours] at 38% progress and is due in December... no rush.

Re: No new tasks for almost a week

Problem solved. Updated to 6.10 and it has all kicked off again on its own. I only put the 6.28v on this comp less than a month ago which i downloaded direct from the boinc link.
Thanks for the reply and advice.

Re: No new tasks for almost a week

I have 16 CPDN wu's on a rig but it still pulls WCG work so doubt that's the issue.
Try suspending CPDN then try to pull down some WCG work.....then unsuspend cpdn at your leisure.

Re: No new tasks for almost a week [RESOLVED]

All depends on so many factors, uptime for instance, share, number of active projects, deadline of tasks, buffer size, number of cores, throttle, when project was added, when project is allowed to fetch work, client version, you name it.

@boatabike

Now that things are running again, plz go to your opening post and edit the title to insert [RESOLVED] as was done on this post. The scheduling and debt logic is different to what it was under 6.2 so probably that helped it along.

happy crunching.
