Java crash

When the Agent (or possibly just the screensaver?) runs, I get the following error:
Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working

Problem details:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: javaw.exe
Application Version: 6.0.200.2
Application Timestamp: 4bc398b3
Fault Module Name: java.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.0.200.2
Fault Module Timestamp: 4bc3c8dc
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00004e46
OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Information 1: a34a
Additional Information 2: c9c5f4fd744690d388ab9d5b3eb051a7
Additional Information 3: cb2e
Additional Information 4: 650bb5690556a17e911375b94d3e16f0

I've only seen this error message since installing and running the Agent, so I'm expecting they're connected.

I am running the most recent version of the Agent on a Windows Vista x64 PC.

Any fixes?

Re: Java crash

Hi,

Not saying it's not related [doubt it is], but what version of Java JRE is on your system? Recently updated both Windows 7 and Linux to 6.20.

Re: Java crash

Hi, Sekerob. Thanks for your response. I'm using Java 6 Update 20 (build 1.6.0_20-b02).

Re: Java crash

OK,

Let's do a first try by switching the SS to something different from the BOINC SS. I use empty with password for least CPU cycle loss.

UNLIKELY: Do check the system temps [use CoreTemp or SpeedFan or TThrottle, latter specially written for the agent]. BOINC truly tests a system to the max so the coolers/fans/ribs are ideally squacky clean for lowest temperatures.

edit: Quick check, but no official BOINC nor the science apps should be using any Java element. Someone did port BOINC to Java but that's a different story.
