Taking the Saleen in for a new "serpintine belt" today ... $300.00 crying Do you remember when you could get a "fan belt" for $2.00 at Pep Boys? How times ... and prices ... have changed!! biggrin

cowboy
I used to change the belts every time I flushed the radiator. Probably about $10 for the whole kit and kaboodle.... back when it wasn't any trouble for me to crawl under and around cars (i.e. "free" labor). Times have changed.

You gotta love serpentine belts. It's now an all-or-nothing proposition.

crying crying crying Back. Air conditioner clutch is shot. Pulley has a 1/2" play in it. That is what wore out the belt. Now we are up to $543.00 and I have to take it back tomorrow. I guess I am lucky it is just a clutch and not the whole compressor or I would be looking at $1,500. Some days it just does not pay to get out of bed. sad

Once we were down in the Baja and I broke the water pump fan belt and we drilled two holes in either end and laced it together with heavy twine. With minimial tension on the belt I was able to limp my way back to Bahia de San Luis Gonzaga and a new belt. Try doing that with a serpentine belt.

Amazing. Once when caught on the side of the lightly traveled road about 11PM Christmas Eve with a fuel pump problem, I fashioned a replacment diaphram from an old Tupperware-like plastic food container. Luckily, it was not snowing but it was really cold. It worked and got me back to town. That was more than a few weeks ago. smile

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 43 smilesmile

Morning everyone! We're just a few days away from celebrating our first anniversary on kiva.org and are just shy of making our 100th loan!

RT should hit his one millionth result today! applause Actually, he already should have but it won't be official until the team stats update tonight. biggrin

I would love to have a million results but truth is according to "stats" page for my two identities, MOT and non-MOT, I have 130+K results. My favorite stat is that I have more run time than my age. Now that is a big number wink ....

One millionth? Geez! You'd think I was runnning for Congress or some corporate executive shifting decimals like that! laughing Just my age showing....fortunately....I think.... biggrin
