Yikes Gerald!!! Even my bill never exceeded $800.00/month even with 11 vid cards running. Thanks for the kind words MOT. I'll be back someday. Sunday I am off to Yosemite for a few days at Camp Curry. When I was young, you could decide to go on Thursday and get weekend reservations. Now you have to make them a decade in advance. My companion is not exactly the outdoors type. She says tents are just convenient food packaging for bears. She makes a good bed warmer though as it will cold up there. We are back to early spring weather.I got a new wireless blackberry thingy ... I have no friggin' idea how to use it. I guess I will have fun putting my big thumbs on tiny icons and seeing what happens. In the future thumbs will look like sharp pencils.Crunch on ... ![]() Well played you rogue... I was going to poke a little fun at Jonathan about the electric bill quoting mine but Dubby put mine to shame. ...convienient food packaging for bears... My brief visit to Yosemite in 2007 really thrilled me. It is one of my favorites from a scenery point of view. Do come back DM - we can tollerate your newly pointed thumbs ![]() |

With just two machines, I don't worry much about the electric. What's expensive, here at least, is the propane. It typically runs at least as much a gallon as gasoline does. I have a big 330 gallon tank and used to go thru at least four tanks during fall and winter, one alone just in January. Getting the latest technology makes a real difference there. The upstairs is on a 1.5 ton heat pump with a dual speed condenser. The air handler has a continuously variable speed blower. The basement and main floor are on a dual fuel system - a 5 ton heat pump, also with the dual speed condenser, (I needed 4.5 ton but they only came in 4 or 5 so I have a half ton of spare capacity) and a propane furnace with the continuously variable speed blower and variable burners ( it has the usual four burners but will only light what it needs instead of all of them). With the programmable thermostats, they keep the temp inside within a two degree range and will automatically switch between heat and a/c (really nice in the spring and fall). Best part is that my propane use is down by about two-thirds to three-fourths. I think I'm down to just over two tanks a year now. Despite the big price tag, the system has already at least half paid for itself. Yes, the electric is up a little. That use to vary between 75 and 300 dollars a month before but that has narrowed to 125-200 (includes 20 a month for the two seciruty lights) a month depending on the time of year. With the 10 year full parts and labor warranty and proper upkeep, I should get a good 15 if not 20 years out of this system. Best is that the house stays a lot more comfortable for a lot less money! If I get to where I can add machines, they'll go in the basement which is always cool year-round.

Just so everyone knows, our numbers are still great. Even today is a good 30K+ points above our average. We are still closing in on a pace for a 170 million point year.
