Had a problem on my laptop so had to reinstall BOINC but it will not connect to any projects. ( Disabled firewall etc but to no effect) BOINC manager keeps telling me to go to web site but I cant find any more to do as my account looks OK and has projects ticked. Device manager doesn't show any devices. How do I add one?
Message log also says Miscellaneous: Last Result Returned (UTC) 01/03/09 17:16:00 [10,166+ hour(s) ago which conerns me as it looks like my results stopped despite number crunching until early April when I had a disk problem.  |

Is the client attached to WCG? Open BOINC Manager [grid/advanced] view and select the Projects tab.

No it isnt OK, So, surely you tried either the Tools or Advanced menu and opened the Attach to Project or Account Manager. Select Attach to Project > Next > Scroll down to where WorldCommunityGrid is listed, select and Next. Then you-re asked for Member Name & Password. That should be it. If that fails, we'll continue on digging

Yes I have treied that but Tools > Attatch to Project drop down is greyed out so I cant make the selection. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times. Disbaling Firewall and and anti virus also deleted the BOINC folder.

The field to enter the project URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org is blocked too?
----------------------------------------edit: Or maybe you've attached to an Account Manager? Then you'd have to do grid selections via their website, so maybe detach from that... it's listed as an option I think in the advanced menu!

do I need to enter this in BOINC Manager ( local host) if so where?
I can go to the website in IE and see my account etc. I do not recall attatching to an account manager at any point. |

Yes, so on attaching in the screen as discussed in this quote:

I've seen this occasionally being greyed out or too small to select, so then entered the project address.
