astrolab, the post of totto73 WITH 2 smilies was meant very lighthearted. THAT was how this threat was meant to be... and to find the positive notes on why / how we get to cut the PV Jail sentencing.

I have ~4500 cores on WCG momentarily[...] Bragger... ![]() Totto73 - Oh yah? Well my other computer is a Commodore64... lol Astrolab - It is a big investment that becomes worthless over a short amount of time... so might as well make the most of it for everyone. 8 years a day is not a fair comparison, it's how efficient per watt of energy to create the system, accumulate useful results, and ultimately recycle the systems that matters. Many other users are equally or more efficient and that's where the big props belong. I wish it were easier to tease efficiency calculations out of the stats and badges. I think I do pretty well when I compare to the other big users on efficiency, but I don't have hyperthreading enabled so my "years" are more real than many of the other systems report. Since it appears hyperthreading is actually creating 30%+ performance gains for some of the projects it's certainly worth having enabled when practical even if it causes an overstatement of time spent crunching. Now where did my 1841 Floppy drive go?! Cheers! MrKermit ![]() |
