... I don't know if this is a problem with my security softare - I have antivir 10 i think. What to do now? I don't like crunching for those errors above Have you set any exemptions at all? If einstein/freehal keep running and faah fail with that error, it is something to investigate in AV/Firewall logs. Usually there pop-ups, but if a response was given such as "remember" there will not be. I looked up the log of Antivir and there are no Warnings / Messages about BOINC. Just nothing that would mean Antivir maked BOINC crashing. |

Weird. Still like to know what, if any, exceptions there are for boinc.exe and the science applications and the scanning of the BOINC data directory.

Hold on a second. The new Boinc will work on some projects outside of WCG, but not on WCG. Win 7 is a combination of Linux and Windows operating systems by the way, so Boinc could have unique issues aside from the fact the new Boinc is proving to be a misery for lots of folks. The new Boinc has not been properly tested. That is painfully clear.
I'll box Win 7, run the new Boinc and see what I can find out and post the results. |

Hi Beth Wells,
----------------------------------------Welcome to the forum. You're posting all over how bad the new BOINC is without even saying what version(s) exactly and on what platform... is it Linux only? E.g. the screensaver issue [Linux does not have one for BOINC] will not go away when downgrading. Generally BOINC 6.2.28, the officially endorsed WCG version for Windows and the 6.2.xx for Linux and Mac Os-X work well. For the Mac OS-X SL the newest versions is in fact a requirement. At any rate, W7-32 and W7-64 work very well together with 6.10.43 i.e. the services run, the sciences process have been testing extensively in production since November. Those who wish to do GPU computing MUST use the latest 6.10, in order to be optimally successful in running on that resource. Pre 6.4 there's no hope. As for Linux, what the package managers offer works most of the time. Sometimes they forget the bit about the certificate requirement. WCG communicates over port 443 which is the most frequent pitfall, relatively easily fixed by fetching ca-bundle.crt and putting it in the right place. For the 64 bit Linux users the 32 libs are a must to be able to work with WCG. This in a nutshell cheers PS, one exception is the Domain Controller. If running that, you need an old version as the newer installers can't create the BOINC user accounts.
