Re: c-types arrived

Oops. I didn't look that closely. I was checking all of my clients to make sure nothing had gone awry, saw a beta wu, came here, saw your post, and jumped the gun.
All of this A, B, C stuff really isn't as easy as ABC. blushing

P.S. It will be back in about 4.5 hrs.

Re: c-types arrived

If you want to give the work unit a test, you can pause the work unit (if you have LAIM turned off), wait about 5 minutes then resuem the work unit. Making sure the percentage complete stays about what it was when you paused it. Then after both yours and your wingman work unit is returned, it should still be valid :) let us know if you get this experience :)

Re: c-types arrived

It has been announced from the beginning that results from type A and type B WUs need to be reviewed by the scientists before generating type B and type C WUs respectively, and consequently there will be times where no DDDT2 WUs are available.
[snip]

My question was
Any idea when we'll again have work units to crunch?

Apparently, the answer is "no." wink

Sorry if you interpreted my message as a complaint, Jm; twas not intended thusly. I have no problem with lulls in WU availability... I'll just bump the cache in BOINC up to 7 days or so to get them through the next such 'dry' spell.

Re: c-types arrived

ZoSo,

Sorry you interpreted my reply as me interpreting you were complaining :D

You're surely aware that running a 7 day cache will lock you out from A/B types, since these only go to devices with a known regular return time of <= 2 days in addition to running practically error free on a continuous basis. If your objective is to merely get the 10 day deadline C-type that have no further dependencies, then you're fine. Simplest set DDDT2 as your only active project and the ''if there is no work...'' and your computers will always be kept busy, whatever the cache size [but less than 10 days as else they'll be switching frequently into panic mode / high priority processing for WCG]

Was that for me? Is that something that can be done after it has started?
The time ballooned a bit while I was running some errands. It's 4:03 in, with 3:27 to go.

Re: c-types arrived

pirogue, it was for anyone with a beta work unit. But since you mentioned you received one, it was directed in your direction :) It is something that can be done after the work unit has started. It is to cause the work unit to stop working, then when you restart it to restore from the previous checkpoint. It should restart from a checkpoint close to the percentage the work unit showed before you suspended it.

Re: c-types arrived

It did resume at close to the suspend point. I suspended @ ~45.5% and it restarted at ~44.75%.

Re: c-types arrived

uplinger just to help me understand. At this very moment there is no DDDT2 work available at all. Is that right?
All my machines are set also for this project and get strictly nothing. So I was starting to wonder if I have done something wrong in the setup. d oh
