I like those first two numbers in particular. Hmmm.....I wonder how many new members WCG gets each day? Just noticed that the Global Stats show we have 500,629 members. It would seem WCG picked up its half-millionth member very recently but didn't see anything in Member News???

Man I wish I could do this on WCG! 2/13 to 3/2 to pass 100,000 credits for FreeHAL (that's 700,000 in points) and that's with them running out of work some and not always getting a full 25 WUs each time! At least the crunching here has a lot more meaning!!

Man I wish I could do this on WCG! 2/13 to 3/2 to pass 100,000 credits for FreeHAL (that's 700,000 in points) and that's with them running out of work some and not always getting a full 25 WUs each time! At least the crunching here has a lot more meaning!! We're at 172 in BOINCstats and holding solid for a while. We are kind of stuck there for now, with some groups coming up behind us. If I had the bucks, I would buy another GTX 275 and crunch some more milkyway.

At least the crunching here has a lot more meaning!! It is pretty clear that points measured at WCG are not comparable to points or credits elsewhere. If the objective were to accumulate points or credits, one of the last places you would want to put your resources would be the WCG. If on the other hand the objective is to "do good" then one of the best places to put your resources is WCG. If you are so inclined, you can compare those WCG points to other's WCG points and have some fun. I told the checkout lady at the grocery store that I had millions of BOINC points. She looked at me as if I had multiple heads for a moment and again stated the cost for the groceries. I suspect that I would have gotten the same reaction had I told her that I had billions or even trillions of BOINC points. Translation: points are valueless and meaningless outside of a very constrained environment; in this case, the WCG. The contribution that we make here at the WCG with these work units are equally meaningless except to the researchers...We can only trust that we are helping to find cures and or solutions to mankinds severe problems.
