Most projects that we run here are more like building knowledge bases that scientists will use to go further, than looking for a big bright and beautiful hit (although everything is always possible).
----------------------------------------And in this matter clearly eliminating hopeless ways is also useful (like in correctly managed police investigations  ). |

What is happening is that computer modelling is becoming a credible research method. It will eventually become the primary method; IT in now virtually ubiquitous in science.
