About avast 5, I love the vastly improved interface. I've only run a quick scan as I am either BOINC'ing, surfing the net or doing both at once. I don't think as much about scanning as I probably ought to, will have to try the full scan soon.
----------------------------------------Oh and I think W7 is hot too I've just gone and applied the exclusion rule so all good [Edit 1 times, last edit by tombell12 at Feb 20, 2010 8:58:20 AM] |

I have done over 10,000 WU's for HCMD II and all of the sudden I have WU's running from 18-over 30 hours yet when I check valid, pending Validation, error opr aborted no WU having run over 10 hours shows up. Currently have 2 running with total time projected at over 14 hours
CMD2_0349-MYH3.clustersOccur-3BEG_B.clustersOccc CMD2_0349-MYH3.clustersOccur-1GK4_C.clustersOccc Sorry did not note the identifing info on those running in the 18+ hour range. I did reboot the computer thinking it may be an issue such as occurred rarely on my machines with HPF II but there was no change in the time of computation or to finish. Help. |

All of a sudden after upgrading to one of these more recent versions of BOINC which displays elapsed (wallclock) time instead of CPU time before? Is that it? HCMD2 WUs are programmed for not exceeding the time to complete the position being computed when reaching 12 hours of CPU time. |

[Not directly on topic, but a relevant issue ... ]
If you post a link to one of your results status pages, or other pages on WCG that are private to you, the data will not be displayed to other members or anyone not logged in to WCG. Thus, tombell12 , the link The Super Long Workunit in your post of 18 Feb, 12:16 UTC shows no data to anyone except to you, when you are logged in to WCG. (Log out, come back to the forum post, and try the link). Instead, copy the privately-visible text, and paste it ino your forum composer window. Where text can't be copied, you may have to save a screenshot as an image, upload it to a website that allows public viewing of images, and then put its URL in your forum post using the composer's Image button. I have no idea what went wrong with your stuck HCMD2 WU though. Crunch on, Aussie, crunch on ... |

JM Boullier,
----------------------------------------Thanks for your help. I have not recently updated or downloaded a new version of BOINC as far as I am aware but that could be it, I guess. Just seems unusual that it should all the sudden do that. Today it is back to shorter, about 11 hours but still not usual time WU's, considering it is a fast processor E5440 and 3 Gb of RAM. Judson,
----------------------------------------Regarding estimated durations BOINC has geat difficulty to properly estimate the duration of HCMD2 WUs, particularly with fast multicore processors using larger caches, because of the wide spread of WU weights from very short to very long. Regarding the total duration that you have seen in your client it is certainly elapsed time (please remind us which version you use when reporting such timing problems) and the difference between elapsed time and CPU time depends essentially on what else your system is doing at the same time. If some other process is using 100 % of a processor that will take much more elapsed time for BOINC to be given the CPU time necessary for completing a WU. Cheers. Jean. |

Hey RickJb, It seems the results for that long WU have now been put into the main database and removed from "Result Status" view. Oh well, it was a once off anyway. Hopefully it won't happen again "Crunch on, Aussie, crunch on ..." "C'mon on Aussie, C'mon" They both share the same tune, I like that |
