[rant] There have been some postings in these forums about having "all" the badges and such as if they had always existed. Those who have them definitely earned them and I don't want to take away from that. But how could one have managed their crunching to obtain a badge when they didn’t exist. Even now it is hard to collect these badges, such as on this project. Some have reported getting hundreds of DDDT2 WUs and are already at the gold level, while some are still trying to download their first job. Some will say "not to worry, it is early in the project", which is true, but that does not ease the disappointment of those that wish to join the competition but are forced to sit on the sidelines. In the case of the completed projects; didn’t know that the competition existed. [rant/] The badges are fun though and I wouldn't want it to end. Where there were no badges before people could simply set a target for themselves, e.g. "for each project I will donate a year of CPU time". I'm fairly sure I've seen posters with an single-colour array of badges, and I'm sure it is not a coincidence. ![]() |

Eviltoad, being a member since 2005 you should remember that the present MyGrid page showing a breakdown of points, results, and runtime did not exist until after the badging system was created. So no, it was not possible to set a target before the badge system existed. The project(s) one selected to run was a matter of personal preference and there was no way to tell how much time had been run for each. If you had multiple projects selected, what you got to crunch was whatever came out of the hopper. It didn't matter - it was for science. For the projects that completed before the current badging system and method for tracking runtime on each project, any single-color badge arrays would have to be considered accidental since there was no way to plan it.I hope to achieve sapphire for the current projects to the extent that my 6 cores will allow. I may not be able to pull it off because there are alot of projects to crunch for. Others may have the same plan, but with different color goals as their resources allow. I believe there are some who are not badge hunting at all (imagine that) and favor certain projects and others who have all projects selected and crunch whatever falls out of the job hopper. It is all good, 'cause we are all crunching to help the scientists. (PS: Nice blue-tinged 16x16 array eviltoad ; I am not even in the all-badges-since-you-started club since I am still trying to get the elusive BETA and DDDT2 trophies for my wall. That luck-o-the-hopper thingy is a real bitch. )Anyway we should go back to recognizing those that have achived DDDT2 badges. I apologize for helping derail this thread. So let me help put it back on the track. "Congrats eviltoad on the silver DDDT2." Cheers ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by NixChix at Mar 22, 2010 7:45:13 AM] |

You had a whiff of it as you have the HCMD phase 1, and that was a UD agent exclusive. Can't presently remember any other project that ran that way. Think brinktastee knows exactly :D
----------------------------------------edit: Yes, even Help Defeat Cancer ran on UD and BOINC, latter initially without graphics: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...hread,8041_offset,0#64563

HCMD1 is missing here because of that UD exclusive run....
. Changed to BOINC too early and was caught without the badge. C'est la vie. My hat's off to those who have the complete set of 16 but there is an element of luck there as well...![]() |
