Hi.
It's been a while since my BOINC Client has churned any WCG packages. Every time it requests new packages it gets the following message: 22-01-2010 14:44:37 World Community Grid Message from server: (won't finish in time) Computer on 41.1% of time, BOINC on 86.7% of that Is there any configuration I can go through so that I can go back to processing WCG packages? One thing I'm not going to do is leave the computer on overnight just to increase processing time. My policy is that I'm willing to share unused processor time but I'm not particularly interested in leaving the computer on just for the sake of WCG. After all, excessive energy use is one of this planet's problems. So, is there a solution or should I just give up on WCG? Cheers Paulo |

Yep, that's the reason... not having churned any WCG packages turning the time stats into crock. The latest 6.10 clients are much better with that condition... if off for longer then 10 days it won't inflate the projected return times.
----------------------------------------Remedy: Exit BOINC, find the client_state.xml file, open with ASCII text editor and delete the <time_stats> section. Save, making sure the file name remains the same. Restart BOINC. Also, for completeness sake, reset WCG in the projects tab to put the Duration Correction Factor to 1.00000 edit: Think this is FAQ worthy :D

Wow... there's actually a workaround? Cool, I'll try that, thanks.

The people here are very good at helping, I don't think there is much they have not seen. What they don't know they will find. If you have a question post it and I am sure you will get help.
Keep up the good work. |
