I was just looking at my stats, and too my horror, I saw that there was a certain amount of run time and results returned between 18 December and 27 December:
27/12/09 0:000:04:37:01 565 1 I was staying with my parents for Christmas during this time! I live alone, and turned my computer off before I left!25/12/09 0:000:07:58:32 938 1 23/12/09 0:000:13:27:01 1,782 2 21/12/09 0:000:05:02:12 590 1 19/12/09 0:000:12:05:16 1,457 2 18/12/09 0:001:08:10:49 3,652 6 I didn't change the locks when I moved in 8 years ago. Has a previous owner or tenant kept a key, been observing my coming and going, and let himself in? I haven't noticed anything missing. Can someone please put at ease? I'm sure there's a rational explanation. Is it some quirk of the stats or something? Were they in fact uploaded before I want on holiday, but then only processed by some server days later? |

Maybe they were in PV and the wingman finished while you were gone.

Hey James,
----------------------------------------probably the PecosRiverM explanation was what happenned. Pending Validation results many times appear when we don't expect nothing, mainly if you act as a wise guy and just left yours WCG profiles and Boinc clients installed in yours machines manages the actions related with processing and returning of Work Units (I personally guess that the micromanagement dosen't working very well in long term aspects). If was the PV queue the cause, you ever can check what device under yours was resposible to produce this results at that days just checking out your Device Statistics per device... (maybe some extrapolation and deduction will be need if you have many devices...). Other possibility could be a device out of your eyes installed by you in some remote machine, in the past, which could scape by now out of your control (just a remote option to be considered). ![]()

I'm sure there's a rational explanation. Sure, and as others said the most probable one is work units pending validation finally being validated while you were off. Now it is too late, but If it happens again simply look at your My Statistics page and check the "Last Result Returned" date and time. This timestamp shows the date and time the last result has been really returned, even if validation is delayed, so it should never show a date-time when your machine is supposed to be off. Hopefully... Cheers. Jean. And welcome on this forum. |

I only have WCG installed on two computers - the other one is old, and is sitting on my floor somewhere and never sees the Internet.
----------------------------------------So, the things that I process, are also processed by one or more other clients (wingmen?), and if they all return the same results, then WCG knows that the results are valid? That makes sense. So, the results "returned" while I was away are actually chunks of work that my PC had already uploaded (pending validation?), but the last of the results of processing the same chunk of work by one or more wingmen were only finally uploaded by those wingmen when I was away? OK, I think I understand, and I'll definitely check that Last Result Returned next time. OK, thanks for allaying my worries then! ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 7, 2010 10:14:20 AM] |

Hello James D Richardson,
It sounds like Pending Validation to me. You can confirm this by reading STDOUTDAE.TXT in you BOINC directory. It keeps a copy of all the messages in the Message tab of BOINC Manager. Lawrence |
