I did run it first in win7 mode and it was fine for a few work units. Then i started to back off to see if it would change in vista compatiblity mode. The error was the same in each. Just OS name was changed to protect the innocent.

I'm current tracking another problem as mentioned, so this may have caused an interation. But the problem is currently static after several rebuilds.

My question may be best put " is the problem me?"

I'll be back soon, as I'm playing blue screen dodge ball, to see how this goes.

It does show that a detatch/reattach was the first answer. But now the question is "am i fixed?"

It seems that you have been able to download the applications now. So it should be OK now that your daily quota should have been reset?

May I suggest that you reduce the size of your cache when you are testing things like that? That would avoid that your quota be exhausted in a snap if tasks fail immediately on starting.

Edit: Re-reading your log I am not so sure that the "exceeded quota" message was still on Dec 30 UTC. In fact I am afraid it was already on Dec 31 and then you might have to wait one more day unless you can reach a tech at support for a manual reset.

Ah, good. I normaly do wait until my systems are stable before loading up, but this time the blue screens came shortly after everything else was loaded and stable. It was unfortunate hapenstance that the 2 problems occured at almost the same time. So making sure there was no side interactions that could connect the 2 issues without waiting was becoming important. Because the possible second order effects could render all the debugging here attacking a non-problem.

Thanks though, I will devote the rest of today to firming up this system. It seems to be a RAM error, so the time wont goto waste and get back to you asap. ;)

That did the trick. I'm glad this was not the problem. I just didnt know there was a quota per day. So when I rebuilt wcg, I was eating it up.

I am glad that you could use this day for solving all your local problems.
The purpose of the daily quota is for cases like yours, to avoid that a device in error sucks hundreds of tasks endlessly and thus overloads the servers and takes too much of the download bandwidth.

Every time a device returns a WU in error its daily quota is reduced by one down to a minimum of one per core. Every time this device will return a good WU its daily quota will be doubled up to the normal daily max (which I think is 80 per core currently). Therefore when the error condition has disappeared the daily quota is quickly restored to its normal value.

The daily quota is not intended to limit very fast crunchers: first the limit is set per crunching thread (i.e. 640 for an i7 device), and every time a new technological progress or a project with very short tasks appears the techs adjust this quota as necessary.
