Do you have something else that is always runing in the background ... like video recording or something?
BOINC runs at Low priority so BOINC steps aside when anything else needs the CPU. |

Turns out I had a somehow corrupt screensaver (acer.scr) which was getting control and not giving it up (this computer was an unattended machine). I rightclicked the desktop and configured the computer to run without a screensaver. This seems to have fixed the problem. Jobs are now completing successfully. Thanks for your input guys. That screensavers take CPU time is one, taking 100% and never let the science get beyond 5-6% is another. Glad you found out, thus would you please mark this learning point for me in the opening post title with [RESOLVED]
