i use that link as the project reference but it is now dominated by "AIDS".
suggest more mention of the other projects considering that is the homepage. |

Nothing is dominating on the front page as it was designed to open up for a different project on each new visit. It though seems the hover on the square buttons is not working either momentarily... the project label is supposed to appear, not hear though.

Well, same issue here. Regardless of how many times I open the homepage (http or https) it always comes up with the AIDS project. I'm using Firefox 3.5.5 on openSUSE 11.2 - cookies enabled - JavaScript enabled - Java disabled.

I came here to the forums for this exact reason.
I got AIDS every time I tried to refresh. And since I was posting a link on my facebook to recruit people to work on cancer projects in response to this silly "All I want for Christmas is a cure for cancer" spam that people are posting on their profiles, it would have been really good to have the homepage come up with cancer info instead of AIDS. I'd like to see a way to get to a friendly welcome page for the project you select, something like www.worldcommunitygrid.org/HCC that would take you to the homepage with the HCC banner. The project specific page is a bit intimidating for someone that's merely curious, rather than truly interested. |

You´ve been mindreading ;>) That's an excellent idea, I think, to be able to bookmark the front-page with the project of your choice.
----------------------------------------Now, I've worked on something else that you might like in concept. I've screen-shotted the 6 projects front pages, saved it to png image files and set up under Windows 7 an Aero custom profile that rotates the Desktop Image. Whenever walking away, park the mousepointer right bottom over the start bar and up comes the desktop until you move the mouse away again. I'm planning to do the same with the screenshots of the projects science graphics. Uses very little CPU time, probably more GPU and double acts as a screensaver. But, it was reported and the admin advising that it should be fixed to at least have the random rotation to return on each new front page visit. PS: Whatever happened to Windows active desktop, where you could put an actual life web page as background? edit: typo

all active projects should appear on the home page at all times. at minimum they should be listed there.
----------------------------------------homepage project rotation is not a good idea. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 17, 2009 2:33:57 AM] |

The rotation issue has been fixed. Works like a charm now.
![]() @Sekerob: Nice idea! Should be possible on Linux, too. |

f.a.o. nelsoc
----------------------------------------One thing I´ve noticed is that hovering over the front page project icons does not dynamically show the related project name anymore which it used to do at launch of the new FP. Now you have to actually click on the icons to see what project they stand for. edit: both on ffx 3.5.6 and IE8
