Re: [UNRESOLVED] Anyone else having page load and WCG website navigation issues?

I have always had one problem with WCG forum.

From my work network, we have to go through some proxy to access the internet. The problem is however, when for example pushing the Recent Threads button, it might show you few months old posts as the most recent. And usually you can't see the most recent posts at all. This doesn't occur in any other web forum that I've tried.

Re: [UNRESOLVED] Anyone else having page load and WCG website navigation issues?

These problems are quite strange.
I have reported them to knreed for his attention when he is back (maybe not before Monday next week).

Cheers. Jean.

Re: [UNRESOLVED] Anyone else having page load and WCG website navigation issues?

I have to sign in each time I try to navigate between "results" or "device manager" or "my statistics", or anywhere else.

The "My Statistics" page seems to be the default page I am sent to regardless of what I selected on the Boinc Manager.
I'm completely denied access to the record links (14, 30, 60, 365) under Statistics History. When selected the sign-in page reappears immediately

flyer122,

I'm going to need your help to try to recreate your issue. Can you do the following for me please?

1) Clear your cache and cookies completely
2) Log into the website and document exactly each step you do
3) Post the steps and the result here in the forums

If you get the same troubles you got before, if you don't mind doing an extra step, then please download and install firefox and repeated the steps with it.

Once we can reproduce what you are seeing, then we will be able to fix what is wrong.

thanks,
Kevin

Re: [UNRESOLVED] Anyone else having page load and WCG website navigation issues?

Knreed,
Starting from the beginning: I closed the Boinc Manager. In Internet Explorer I selected Internet Options, General, Delete Browsing History,
all boxes checked, and deleted. Also ran CCleaner to delete temp files and cookies. IE version is 8.0.6001.18865. Running Vista SP2, Home Premium with all recent patches/updates.

Opened BOINC Manager (v6.2.28) and selected "Results." Directed to Sign-in page which I did and checked "remember me."

From there, I was sent to "My Statistics." If I use the menu on the left side, I can go to any topic that does not have a > sign, such as Results or My Projects. If I try to go to an item with a > such as Device Manager or History, or if I scroll down and try to select Member Statistics History, I am returned to a sign-in page. Upon signing-in, I go back to My Statistics.

If I go from My Statistics to Results I can return to My Statistics using the IE back button without signing-in again.

I can also get to Device Manager by selecting My Projects then following the link to Device Manager in the first paragraph.

So far, the only way I found to get my daily history is to copy and paste the 14 day or 30 day, etc URL into the browser, then add an "s" to http:// and substitute "secure" for the www. in the address.

In all cases, the "remember me" button appears non functional.
That about sums up the problem. While I have learned to get around the site, it seems I've lost the ability to use BOINC Manager menus and retain my sign-in.

I did notice that in Ccleaner, I have accumulated at least three separate cookies from the website: WorldCommunityGrid.org, another for xxx.org/forums/wcg, and xxx.org/mc Even with those present I still cannot go directly to Results from the BOINC manager without signing-in as previously described.

Just a poke in the dark, has caused me similar problems in the past: internet options/general tab under browse history is a delete browsing history on exit check box, when checked it will clear the remember me feature to where you have to sign in every visit. Don't remember about within site nav but worth a look

The remember me depends on a persistent cookie. Usually these get flushed too on exit or was that not the case in your situation, guessing you're talking about IEx? Vaguely remember one can specify which cookies are allowed to be saved for a site... session or permanent.

For Fredski: No, not checked. And I'm aware of cookies.

I have saved cookies I do not want erased by CCleaner, and, I do visit other secure websites of which I have no problems. I did give permission in IE for pop-up's from *worldcommunitygrid.org

Yes, it is acting like I am missing a cookie which remembers me.

Re: [UNRESOLVED] Anyone else having page load and WCG website navigation issues?

I had assumed that one of the Microsoft IE security updates had changed my browser settings, but since this is the only website I have problems with, I entered a post when I first saw this thread from Sekerob.

If I'm the only one with problems, it's not worth your time troubleshooting. But if it's a wider problem, maybe it bears looking into.
I've looked all through the browser options and advanced settings. It may be something simple but then again, this is the only place I am having problems signing-in.

Re: [UNRESOLVED] Anyone else having page load and WCG website navigation issues?

flyer122,

After you clear you history and after you click on Results Status from BOINC but while you are still on the logon page, can you check to see if you have a cookie called WASReqUrl and that the value of the cookie is /ms/viewBoincResults.do

Next, after you login, can you check your cookies again and let me know if you have two cookies named LtpaToken and LtpaToken2 both with a domain of .worldcommunitygrid.org?

thanks,
Kevin

This is the cookie that tells WebSphere where to redirect you to after a successful login.
