There is a Facebook thingy on the main page for WCG, and at the bottom of each project's main page. But, even at the bottom of each page, it is still the same thing, gives one the same result, as the one on the main WCG page.
----------------------------------------This is not sufficient. Each and every project should have its own Facebook thingy. The projects are very different. Not each project is going to appeal to each person. If each project had its own Facebook thingy - sorry, I don't know what else to call it - then we who are already crunching could take this news to greater worlds of people who know nothing about it. Rice is not the same as Cancer is not the same as AIDS. I am putting this on each and every project's forum. >>RSM |

ONE post on the subject is sufficient; please delete your duplicate posts. +1 Clearly you are passionate about WCG but why did you think spamming the people who are already participating instead of putting it in one of the "suggestion" formus was a good idea? |

Each project is separate.
----------------------------------------Each has its own main page and I am aiming at each individual project. What is wrong with you people? I totally reject your opinion that one post is sufficient. People in one project may never even look at the threads under some other project. I understand that when one CA put up the original Facebook thing, he was also castigated for his efforts. and dumped. In fact, look at some other web sites, they have a whole "share" thing with much more than Facebook available. Every project really needs that, but, I will settle for Facebook, as I think it is the most powerful. There is constant "preaching to the choir" here. Well, it is not enough. We need to get this word out to as many people as we can who have never even heard of WCG. Or BOINC. So, do whatever it is that you wish, I will press on. >>RSM |

I totally reject your opinion that one post is sufficient. People in one project may never even look at the threads under some other project. Nobody said that your idea is wrong, it is up to WCG management to appreciate it. What is wrong is to post the same message in seven different forums except the right one, i.e. Suggestions/Feedback. People able to ever implement your suggestion are reading all forums so your reasons for spamming are wrong. |

I hardly think that you can characterize this as spam.
----------------------------------------I had already made the suggestion at the Feedback page. I think that those who determine what should happen think that one link on the main page of WCG is sufficient. And, frankly what is there is way at the bottom of the page and very small. Every project should do this on their own main page, maybe not even just Facebook, maybe one of those larger Share lists I see all over the place. We need to preach the "good news" of WCG to a wider world. Those of us with Facebook pages, or other social networking sites subscriptions need only click the link and , bang!!, out they go to our social networking page for all of our "friends" to see and maybe then click on and take a look. But, someone interested in Cancer projects, or AIDS, may have zero interest in something else. What we have now makes them drill for the projects. We need to put the individual projects in their face and maybe we can wake some people up. I consider this work the best thing I have ever done with my four computers. I am constantly talking to people, showing them projects, whatever. I have gotten some people. We need to do more. I just added a new computer with an I7-920 CPU. Now I can crunch on eight WU's simultaneously. I bought this computer, for US$1800, just to get this processor. Does that sound like I am a spammer? ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by mitrichr at Nov 16, 2009 8:50:18 PM] |

Why can you not accept that, though your motivation is admirable, your implementation is not.
One post in the correct forum area is more likely to get the attention of the relevant party. And, failing that there are plenty of other worthy projects that could use that i7 ![]() |
