Re: Funniest News of the Week

This week we read that Voyager 2 was hijacked by aliens and is now sending back coded messages. I think we need to contact Dr. Ellie Arroway :D

Re: Funniest News of the Week

The week has only just begun and already we have a contender for the funniest news... from the associated press:
Police: Man robs bank in clown pants, fake xxxxxx.

SWISSVALE, Pa. — Authorities say Pittsburgh-area man robbed a bank wearing a woman's blond wig, fake xxxxxx under a sweater and clown pants.

Swissvale police say 48-year-old Dennis Hawkins of North Braddock was sitting in a parked car covered in red dye from an exploding packet in a bag of money when he was arrested Saturday.

Police Chief Greg Geppert says Hawkins robbed the bank at gunpoint, using a toy BB gun he had shoplifted from a store.

Geppert says Hawkins then entered a woman's car. She got out, took her keys and alerted police. Hawkins was found sitting in the car.

He is being held on $230,000 bail. It's not clear whether he has an attorney.

Re: Funniest News of the Week

Although Germany and France are neighbours, it seems like there's not many French speaking employees in the Audi's marketing department. Also, the car is introduced at car show.. in Paris. So if this isn't something we should call funniest news of this week, at least this gives us something to think about.

Audi's answer to worst named car model challenge is E-tron. Challengers are introduced behind the link at the end of the article. Or straight from here.

Re: Funniest News of the Week

Also CIA has begun reading Wikileaks and established a task force to investigate it. Guess what it is called? Nice to see some good sense of humour but WTF?

Re: Funniest News of the Week

The week did not end in a bang, poof, woosh, but there being a comment on Times square at 18:01... "Something died... my camera battery!"

In mid-week foreign news, a Polish car thief and a few alleged accomplices who were transporting 3 sportscars including a Bugatti crossing the Swiss-German border, was chased in Germany and caught. In amongst the charges he's also got to pay 370,000 Euro import duties.

Ok, I'll bite...

"Iowa Craigslist Ad Offers 'Free Boyfriend'

DES MOINES, Iowa -- A KCCI viewer spotted an unusual ad on the classified ads website Craigslist on Wednesday.

The ad is titled "Free Boyfriend (Des Moines)."

The ad reads, "FREE - Boyfriend - 50 years old (acts like he is 20) He sleeps all the time so you'll never even know he's around! Comes with 2 motorcycles and his dog. He will eat up all the food in the house so no need to buy a garbage disposal. not the dog, the boyfriend. Most of the time you wont know what he is talking about so no need to try and carry on a conversation with him. Just let him tell his stories and lies and he will be good. Oh and almost forgot to mention that you can talk about anything you want in front of him cause he never remembers anything. You dont ever have to try and think of what to get him on Birthdays or Christmas because he won't buy for you anyway. Some girl or guy please come and get him before I put him on the curb. BRING HELP as he is heavy. I am not able to keep him any longer due to health problems of my own. I AM SICK of HIM! Pictures upon request. God Bless You!"

The ad was posted at 3:36 p.m. on Wednesday under the for sale -- free items section."

Re: Funniest News of the Week

Maybe we need a cartoons thread [if not already existing]

Funny [old] news is burglars falling asleep "on the job" after binging from the fridge and liquor cabinet in the victims house. When the owner came home a brief call to the gendarme was made, who on arriving did a call to the house, which woke the burglars up.

Pity they did not do this on camera. The facials must have been priceless.

Re: Funniest News of the Week

It's only Tuesday, but the funniest news going around AP and Reuters is that satellite imagery have revealed and estimated 2.5 million properties in Italy that are not in the cadastre aka land survey registry. The first million have been indexed and may expect letters or visits. It's funniest because absolutely everyone knew about them existing in very large numbers laughing
