Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Algore: We Have Ten Years Left Before Earth Cooks

Now, the last time I heard some liberal talk about "ten years" it was 1988, Ted Danson. We had ten years to save the oceans; we were all going to pay the consequences, which would result in our death. Now Al Gore says we've got ten years. Ten years left to save the planet from a scorching. Okay, we're going to start counting. This is January 27th, 2006. We will begin the count, ladies and gentlemen. This is just... You have to love these people -- from afar, and from a purely observational point of view.

In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

yeah we know that...but those aero-soils in city & industry populated areas "absorb heat", not reflect them!

3 more days

https://magnoxsites.com/what-we-do/sites/electricity-generation

Until the world oldest Nuclear Power Station (by construction start date) gets switch off,

It can't come soon enough

Began construction in 1963

I'm not that old but even I'm creaking and I'm not containing 595 Tonnes of enriched Uranium at 450C cooled by CO2 at 400psi and boiling 2.6 Million litres of water an hour .... since 1971 !!

(and that's just the one remaining reactor - they shut the other off on 25 April 2012)

Soon Wales will be Nuclear free, (Trawsfynydd closed in 1991) Let's hope it stays like that.

https://magnoxsites.com/2015/12/the-last-magn...icity-on-30-december-2015

This is good news smile

However...

Our lights will go off soon due to an appalling lack of foresight and planning for the future, made worse by the complete support for the belief that a trace atmospheric gas (C02 at 0.04% of the atmosphere) controls our Climate.

This fantasy of Government is going to deliver Wylfa Newydd - as Green!!!!! - just as the possibility of a nuclear free UK has shown it's hand.

Night all, we've have just taken Nuclear Power out of Wales. Let's continue into Scotland and England and onwards across our beautiful Planet.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

The December result is in and the average temperature from 2438 NOAA Weather Stations around the Globe was an extraordinary 6.655C a whole 1.65C Warmer than any other December in the series

The warm November and December takes us to the warmest year so far at 13.125C which beats the year 2013 by 0.078C (But colder than the 12 month period ending July 2012)

Here's another forum friendly sized graph that updates now every 4 hours due to the sheer number of points it now needs to plot

The graphs above are (at this moment in time) the result of 108,244,685 individual temperature measurements taken around the Globe from (the same set of) NOAA Weather Stations since the beginning of 2011 cool

On average every 1.5 seconds another temperature reading is added to the database .... wink

The lights will go out in the UK very soon.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

why the delay?

I was here taking this pic yesterday

http://www.yorkshireman-photography.co.uk/gl.jpg

This is a shot of Great Langdale Valley with the Langdale Pikes directly opposite. I'm on Side Pike.

The Lake District has been in the news recently due to the heavy flooding but as you see it's back to it's former glory.

The central massive of the Lake District are ancient volcano's that have been eroded away so you are able to see their central solidified magma filled cores.

Pretty sure that the valley has been carved out via glaciers that are now absent

...caused by that Climate that has always changed
