I thought the whole point of WCG was to install the app, crunch the WU and forget it is even running.
Up to the minute updates? How about a new project online? or a Facebook app that makes sense? What we need is more crunchers doing the #1 task: crunching WU. So now you have to be on Twitter to get the instantaneous notice that a Beta has started. Thanks for favoring Tweetiots who have nothing better to do, over a 23 Teraflop donor. |

I tried the twitter feed on Facebook a few days ago. I rapidly removed it - a huge flood of trivial was rapidly filling my Wall.
The general idea is good, but it wasn't thought through properly. |

I don't use twitter or facebook, because i don't think the whole world has to know who i am, what i think and what i am doing right now.
On the other hand, if through these media only one more cruncher is gained, why not? |

I don't use twitter or facebook, because i don't think the whole world has to know who i am, what i think and what i am doing right now. Here, here... Also, I spend enough of my time sat in front of a computer/screen as it is - taking precious time away from the ones most dear to me. ![]() |

Tommunich, I have poked fun of twitter, facebook and other time wasting "social internet-working websites like those for some time. Now, I can only laugh when Big Time news-pundits (from all spectrums of political parties) call these websites by using even more disparaging words than I. Touché! ![]() |

Goliath is a cry baby because David is getting more attention I think that is insultingWhat do you mean? So we start to favor a class of crunchers who choose to use an application that has no impact on the number of WU crunched? What? Relheok, you think that is the way to spread the word, that you think you should get a special advantage because you tweet? The next step will be to provide special information only to those on Facebook or MySpace. None of these applications help to crunch.Hopefully everybody's contribution is valued, big or small. |

Chill, astrolab. :-)
That wasn't how I interpreted Relheok's post at all. I thought it was a comment on how World Community Grid have suddenly decided to carpet-bomb the Member News forum with mentions of the Facebook application that they have ignored for the last two years. The twitter thing isn't new, either - it's just a thinly veiled attempt to mention their own Facebook application again. There is a reason their application got ignored for two years. People didn't want to use it. |

----------------------------------------personaly i dont twitter so its no nevermind to me yes ther facebook app needs ALOT of work and Didactylos app is in my opinion much better (though unoffical) if it helps advertise and get more crunchers even the single computer user guys out there i am happy... @ astrolab ... if no one else has said it yet... "thank you for your tremendious support and the power of computers you bring to WCG. yes you may not need to link to twitter to get your infomation but heck if it gets us more computting power im for it. ![]() |
