Re: Federal Election

I'm thinking about getting into federal politics for the pension. I think I can handle 8 years of bickering and posturing. biggrin

Losers get gold-plated pensions, payoffs -- Toronto Star
OTTAWA — Taxpayers needn't shed a tear for members of Parliament who were defeated in yesterday's federal election or else left politics before the vote: they stand to collect $74.6 million in pensions and severance.

Four of the 67 retiring MPs — all of them Liberals — could each collect more than $3 million before they turn 75, estimates calculated by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation suggest.

yeah, but when you factor in the payoffs and bribes they made to get elected in the first place, they'll be eating ALPO in their golden years... laughing

I don't think I've ever heard "good old days" in context of any politician...remember: "good old days" is not the same as "less bad old days..." biggrin

They may be on their way back if the Tories present a deficit budget to cover all their election promises.... wink

Sounds like Jack Layton is already pulling on the boxing gloves as far as a new budget containing a GST cut is concerned.

The Liberals are currently adrift with strong prospects for party leader saying no to the chance of leading the party.
