confused linux hostname change - errors for valid results?

Hey,
right now I don't have any physical access to the maschine, but here's what I see from "results status":

a very reliable linux cruncher from my farm restarted a number of time and for an unknown reason changed its hostname. Now a big cache of WUs is being sent from it and they all appear as errors although no sign of error is visible.

The results of the wingmen are now all "inconclusive", will my results still return as valid as soon as the 3rd copy arrives?

What could have caused his hostchange? An error in boinc, in opensuse or was it a autoupdate for opensuse?

Here's the result log of a result:

<core_client_version>6.6.36</core_client_version>

Re: linux hostname change - errors for valid results?

If your results are listed on your Result Status page with 'Error', the race for your side has run. Do not think the 3rd copy return will reconsider your 'error' results again come validation time.

As for your host name change, results would more probably be considered as not belonging to this 'new' host and would not list for this newhost on your Result Status page. Host name changes would though normally be transparent i.e the servers would have recognized that it was the same device.

Cause of this autonomous name change is entirely unknown/unclear to me.

Re: linux hostname change - errors for valid results?

problem solved,

last night it connected again to the internet and the rest of the large cache reported all as valid, so I only lost like 4-6 tasks!
