Re: getting close to the end of this experiment

Saw nowhere an indication of a new experiment. Uplinger discussed the new batch test done through a few results with the number 8260 but said nothing in terms of this being something new, so I'm taking this as bolt on similar to experiment 21. WCG possibly leaves such announcements in the exclusive hands of the PI/Project Scientists.

Question, since I presently do not run any FAAH. Are the ZINC codes any different from 8233 batch and before?

Sek and all,

the test that was referred to about number 8260 actually happens on all batches of FightAIDS@Home. This test checks 3 random work units in a batch of thousands to see if they are running in about the right time frame and are not extremely off. These are called preruns in my world.

Reason for this, is we did have issues in the past before this method was put in place where work units would be 20-30 hours in runtime the next batch work units would be 2-3 hours due to the estimation scripts.

Some helpful tips :) If you see a work unit with YYYYMMDD_faah* then you can guess I've just loaded up some new work units :)

The preruns go to reliable hosts and make sure my estimations don't get wildly inaccurate for the entire batch. I get a report on them so if they were out of my prefered range, i rebuild them before the bulk of the work units get sent out.

Hope this helps and thank you Alex for the information!

Re: getting close to the end of this experiment

Glad to see you here Dr. Perryman, I've always wanted to know what FAAH Scientists feel about the project, I have made my small contribution devoting my PC 24/7 and inviting new people to join The WCG.
