just got home and began to check for work units ready to send back and on my slower Dell system, I have seen a strange Work Unit, strange as in the Name of it is completely different to any other FAAH WU I have seen.
----------------------------------------Initally, I thought it was a Wingman Job as the Report Deadline is for the 20th September, so I checked to find out the reason for it being sent out a 2nd time, only to find it's a Quorum of 1, there is no Wingman for this job, only me. It's name is: 20090915174812_ faah8260_ ZINC04503083_ xh2_ xtal_ 02_ 0-- Normally the name's are: faah8158_ ZINC01022093_ xmdEq_ 2R5P1c_ 00_ 0-- (for example). Anyone come across this type of WU before, anyone know why's it's got such a short report time despite being a Quorum & Replicant of 1?? ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by themoonscrescent at Sep 17, 2009 12:18:47 PM] |

I guess the scientists have to update their status page again, as according to the page, Exp. 29 involves batches up to #8233 only.

themoonscrescent,
----------------------------------------As the techs committed some time ago, they'd run trial jobs for e.g. FAAH to test the size cutting whenever there would be a new series. I'd suppose they'd want them back quick. This could be one you snagged. Why don't you filter beta on the Result Status page and see if it appears in that grouping? As for 8260 maybe being a new experiment, well the probability of it just being a test is also supported by the statement that experiment 29 would be long running... till the end of the year. Let's hear if the tech or scientist can share a moment.

Thanx for the replys so far.
----------------------------------------I don't have Beta checked (in as much as it doesn't appear in my list of available ot intermittent work), and haven't ever crunched a Beta (would like to, if I know how to activate it?), so I'm not sure about it being a Beta unless they now opt you in without you being able to opt out??. ![]() ![]() |

Beta participation is a separate option on My Grid. Same as new projects, beta is a opt-in default, not an opt-out.

themoonscrescent,
----------------------------------------There is no reason for staying unsure of anything about beta tests for you. Use this page Beta Testing to see if the profiles you use are accepting beta work or not, and possibly to change these settings if you want. And click on the name of your WU in your Results Status page to clearly see its Project name. Cheers. Jean. Edit: I had forgotten "in your Results Status page" ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at Sep 16, 2009 9:46:34 AM] |

In any case you can use My Grid > Result Status to look up the workunit. If you click on it in the popup is will tell you to which project it belongs. If it is a BETA workunit it will say BETA, not FAAH.

experiment 29 would be long running... till the end of the year. But one of my machines has already got a Batch #8161 WU today, a few days after another machine getting a Batch #8128 WU... unless the batches are not released in sequence in general. |

Correct, not necessarily sequential, to include that multiple experiments could be running or more was added to previous experiments... have you looked down the list?

JmBoullier: Thankyou for providing the Beta Link, I'm going to tick it to start some Beta Units (for when their available).
----------------------------------------The work unit has been returned and the info for it is the same as FAAH, so it's not a Beta: Project Name: FightAIDS@Home Created: 15/09/09 Name: 20090915174812_faah8260_ZINC04503083_xh2_xtal_02 Minimum Quorum: 1 Replication: 1 But still a mystery as to why it had a 5 day deadline? ![]() ![]() |
