Hey guys and gals.
We're almost at the end of experiment 29, I've got about 4 faah8219 work units crunching along nicely. Another few days and it will be all over. It makes me feel warm inside and happy to know that we, Mr and Mrs. Average are able to switch on our computers and download a program and help scientists find a treatment for this terrible disease. |

Not sure if we're in the "few days" range quite yet; I don't think they go out in order I'm crunching an 8099 and 8137 now. We're close though! |

Reference last weeks test of a '8260' result, not heard if this belongs to a new experiment or if this is an extension of experiment 29. For sure is that batches don't run sequential as esoteric17 observed.

looks like I was right. I've reached the end of experiment 29
faah8237_ZINC00198739_xh2_xtal_01_0. On to the big 3 0! Is there anyone out there who can provide info on what experiment 30 is all about? Thanks. |

Saw nowhere an indication of a new experiment. Uplinger discussed the new batch test done through a few results with the number 8260 but said nothing in terms of this being something new, so I'm taking this as bolt on similar to experiment 21. WCG possibly leaves such announcements in the exclusive hands of the PI/Project Scientists.
----------------------------------------Question, since I presently do not run any FAAH. Are the ZINC codes any different from 8233 batch and before?

Hi there.
The reason I assume we had reached the end of experiment 29 was because in the status page, it says This experiment involves faah6022-faah8233. I estimate we'll be on to the 8260 work units in about 12 hours time. |

Hi Everybody!
I just updated the Status page ( http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/status ), and I included a description of the brand new experiment. Experiment 30 involves faah8234 - faah8971. Sekerob, you're absolutely correct: the scientists working on each project are responsible for describing the experiments (and the batch numbers that they involve, if these details are being provided). For FightAIDS@Home, this is one of my many responsibilities. Each ZINC ID number represents a unique compound (well, a unique model of a particular compound........different protonation states of a particular compound are each represented by a different model). The ZINC ID numbers in Experiment 30 were also used in Experiment 29, since both experiments use the "Asinex library" of around 360,000 different compounds. Experiment 29 targeted the active site (in the center of protease), while Experiment 30 docks these compounds against the allosteric inhibitor site (i.e., the "exo site" on the sides of protease). Today we finalized the plans for Experiments 31 through 34, but you'll have to wait and stay tuned to learn about the details. Have an excellent equinox! Dr. Alex L. Perryman |

Dear whocrazy,
I get the same feeling, which is why I decided to devote my life to performing research on diseases. I made that decision over a decade ago, and I've never had the slightest regret. Cheers, Dr. Alex Perryman |
