Hi everyone! I've got a Really Important Problem.
The Boinc Client on my main computer does not download WUs. Theese are examples of recived messages: 14/09/2009 18.04.34 World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 14/09/2009 18.04.34 World Community Grid Requesting new tasks 14/09/2009 18.04.45 World Community Grid Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks I Don't know why i have this problem. The client version is 6.6.20 and in the settings i've choose to download work for 7 days and run WCG 25% of Total Running Time. Please Help. |

The client version is 6.6.20 Our recommended version is 6.2.28. If you use untested versions, you may experience unexpected problems, such as it failing to work. |

Our recommended version is 6.2.28. If you use untested versions, you may experience unexpected problems, such as it failing to work. v6.2.xx isn't an option for users also running GPUGRID.net Hmm, not sure how much info v6.6.20 gives, possibly it's currently only asking for CUDA-work, something WCG obviously won't give... It's maybe an improvement to change to v6.6.36, since GPUGRID currently recommends this version, but I don't know, since don't have a nvidia... Atleast to make sure it's not only asking for CUDA-work, can make a cc_config.xml (if not already present in BOINC data-directory), including: <cc_config> <log_flags> <sched_op_debug>1</sched_op_debug> </log_flags> </cc_config> After saving the file, in BOINC Manager select "Advanced", "re-read config file", and try asking for work... Another log-flag possible to use is <work_fetch_debug> but it can generate lots of info in a short time so wouldn't recommend to run with it continuously... Also possibly a reason, if you haven't selected to run all WCG-sub-projects, the sub-project(s) you've selected is possibly out-of-work. While BOINC normally should get message if this is the case, it's not always it will, so if limited sub-project-selection, what sub-projects is running? ![]() "I make so many mistakes. Or is this another bug in BOINC? We don't have the time to waste on versions of BOINC that have been abandoned by Berkeley. If you want to waste your time, go right ahead. |

When have you observed this? Or is this another bug in BOINC? Not sure if have seen it when only asking for CPU-work from WCG, but have definitely seen it from CPDN atleast... For GPU-work-requests on the other hand, you'll get something like this: 15.09.2009 15:37:06 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] Starting scheduler request 15.09.2009 15:37:06 World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 15.09.2009 15:37:06 World Community Grid Requesting new tasks for GPU 15.09.2009 15:37:06 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] CPU work request: 0.00 seconds; 0 idle CPUs 15.09.2009 15:37:06 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] ATI GPU work request: 95040.00 seconds; 1 idle GPUs 15.09.2009 15:37:16 World Community Grid Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 15.09.2009 15:37:16 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] Server version 601 15.09.2009 15:37:16 World Community Grid Project requested delay of 11 seconds 15.09.2009 15:37:16 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] Deferring communication for 11 sec 15.09.2009 15:37:16 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] Reason: requested by project We don't have the time to waste on versions of BOINC that have been abandoned by Berkeley. If you want to waste your time, go right ahead. Upgrading to v6.6.36 is possibly an advantage, this depends on why current client isn't getting any WCG-work... If the reason for no WCG-work is very high negative LTD, or client currently has lots of cpu-work in other projects running "high priority", changing client won't change anything for the current problem... But, if instead it's along the lines of "one or more cpu-core sits idle, since client doesn't get any new cpu-work", changing clients probably will be an improvement on the current problem. Not having a nvidia, I'm (blissfully) ignorant of any CUDA-specific bugs in v6.6.20, it's possible there is a major reason to upgrade I'm unaware of... ![]() "I make so many mistakes. Sorry for being late in replying (I'm in Italy).
I've Uninstalled & Reinstalled Boinc with 6.2 version. The problem remains, but I lost GPUGRID crunching. Then Uninstalled & Reinstalled again with 6.6.36 client version and resetting the project I recived 6 WUs, but no reserve. Actually I'm running theese projects: Fight AIDS, Help Conquer Cancer, Clean Energy Project. When there is no work it's selected the option to download other project WUs. Altough there are no problems with the Back-up PC wich always has at least 6WUs (and it's only a Dual Core). |

Dove Sei?
----------------------------------------Anch'io ;>) Yes, 6.2 does no GPU crunching and 6.6.36 has serious scheduling issues as yet not fixed in 6.6.38. What's the WCG project weight (resource share). You can see that in the 'Progetti' view. Work is cached proportionally to buffer size and buffer weight, at least it should, but with 6.6 as said there are scheduling issues where projects with a short deadline conrtinuously get priority. And on 6.10... I'm unreservedly retracting the suggestion to try that. If you do GPUgrid, i.e. NVidia, you dont need 6.10. It's a mess.
