Dial-up connection settings

My computer will not be attended for several weeks. What settings can be made that will allow the client to connect and disconnect as needed? So far connecting appears to be random so I make a connection for the client. If I leave for a week I come home only to find most information has not been exchanged. What can be done to correct this?

Thank you
Dave

Re: Dial-up connection settings

Actually recent versions of BOINC allow you to set dates and time when network connections are permitted; also they have a checkbox "disconnect after network operation". I must admit that I've never used it so far for I have a permenent Internet connection, but this settings should allow Boinc to use the OS' built-in dial-on-demand functions.

I'm currently only with my german Boinc on Mac, but I can check with Windows and Linux tonight after work, if you still need help.

Good luck!
Alex.

Simon Cameron died on June 26th, 1889. The quote you cite is from 1861...!

Oh really! I must admit I stole this signature elsewhere years ago and never bothered to check the reference ;-) I found it funny nonetheless... Thanks - will check for references and adapt it accordingly.

Cheers!

No need to search for references... Just take this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Cameron#Quotes

Re: Dial-up connection settings

I have used all available settings to no avail.
IN 99, when working SETI, an add on dial-up program worked flawlessly. Must be that not many use dial-up anymore. I am not in a position to use anything but at this location.
