Re: Forum Issues - Please post here

The out of sync continued so today I moved manually back from Minsk to Rome timezone, my time zone.

This was before the change, the wrong CET, winter time

Current timezone is +2

This was after the change, the correct CET, winter time

Current timezone is +1

Are they in Canada, where the servers are on CDT?

Sek, I am afraid the problem is on your side, not in Canada. Whether I choose GMT (UTC, my usual setting) or Paris/Rome (GMT+1) in the Forum profile I see the correct time, before or after the winter time change.

Good luck for your search. Jean.

Re: Forum Issues - Please post here

Well, if my system clock set itself right Saturday night fully automatic and manually changing the forum to that same time zone, how can it be wrong? Choosing GMT, which is now I think equal to UTC and Paris Rome GMT+1 giving you both the correct time on the forum, right bottom, it signals I need to go get a coffee as something is not working right, since the site move. No, I'm not moving to London or Lisboa ;>)

3:26:02 PM same as what the forum says right bottom.

Edit: Which matches the computer system clock, that what the OS says right bottom in the start bar, which matches the time on my watch, which matches the time on the DVR, which auto-adjusts to the time received from the Set Top Box connected to the Sky Satellite. Guess which time is not correctly adjusted ;?

You posted in the chat room here

Signed in or signed out? This 1 hour off has existed since since a number of months, so I've set my forum profile to 2 hours ahead instead of 1 hour... I now show to be in the Minsk timezone, though the computer itself is on Paris time CET which is the correct one.

You confuse me really wink

Re: Forum Issues - Please post here

My understanding of the forum time setting is that only the part within parenthesis matters, i.e. (GMT+xx) and that it is not able to manage Daylight Saving Times, either not trying it or doing it incorrectly (after all, operating systems need a lot of info with frequent updates to do it correctly). So I would expect that you have to manually select GMT+2 in Summer and GMT+1 in Winter, completely ignoring the cities shown in the selection list.
Ideally their selection list should include a choice "My system clock" to deal with local time correctly and automatically.

Regarding the different times between logged in or not logged in that's normal if the forum time (after the above consideration) is different from GMT which seems to be the forum's default. Actually this is one of the reasons which have made me choose GMT as my profile setting (the other one being that WCG's time is UTC anyway).

Re: Forum Issues - Please post here

Yes Jean, but if the forum software checks my system time and adds the hour in the winter time based on GMT correction, why is it no longer doing so in summer? It used to before the move.

Anyway, it's one of these things to resign to and just adjust it manually 2x per year... why else have we got computers ;>)

I presume that like most (all?) networked applications they don't use the system time but they directly use the UTC which is maintained by the Network Time Protocol implementation of the operating system in all networked machines and is not affected by all those "political" things like country zone or Daylight Saving Time. Then they add the offset that you set in the profile.
