Strange message ?

Hi !
Inside the "status log" of a recent task which "finished early", I read this sentence :
"No heartbeat from core client for 30 sec - exiting"
What does it mean ? =O
Is there any trouble with that ?

2 Question: Did the result as valid and can you please copy paste the result detail with run time/credit.

Re: Strange message ?

I have this on my last two completed tasks, both are valid.

The first one :

Journal des résultats

Nom du résultat: CMD2_ 0060-IF4A2A.clustersOccur-1FNT_ F.clustersOccur_ 0_ 1--
<core_client_version>6.10.0</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<stderr_txt>
INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning.
No heartbeat from core client for 30 sec - exiting
Finishing early because max runtime has been exceeded.21604.106250
called boinc_finish

</stderr_txt>
]]>

CMD2_ 0060-IF4A2A.clustersOccur-1FNT_ F.clustersOccur_ 0_ 1-- 614 Valide 29/08/09 08:09:20 30/08/09 22:43:41 6,00 51,0 / 50,4

The second one :

Journal des résultats

Nom du résultat: CMD2_ 0062-MYH6.clustersOccur-1O8T_ A.clustersOccur_ 18_ 1--
<core_client_version>6.10.0</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<stderr_txt>
INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning.
No heartbeat from core client for 30 sec - exiting
Finishing early because max runtime has been exceeded.21610.201250
called boinc_finish

</stderr_txt>
]]>

CMD2_ 0062-MYH6.clustersOccur-1O8T_ A.clustersOccur_ 18_ 1-- 614 Valide 30/08/09 09:54:05 31/08/09 21:13:05 6,00 51,0 / 47,8

Maybe this is caused by the 10.0 version of Boinc ?

Artifere, did you happen to see this post a couple weeks ago?

We think both of the tasks you present, hit the 6.00 hour wall.

Re: Strange message ?

The good news is that you've had 2 of new / longer 6 hour HCMD2 jobs. They cut off at 6 hours if they have not completed 60% of the included work. This is signified by the Finishing early because max runtime has been exceeded.21604.106250 . The part that was not done by your tasks is included in child tasks and processed by another client.

The 6.10. client is very very alpha development, so suggest to downgrade to 6.2.28. Not for certain, but your core client boinc.exe had a greater than 30 seconds lasting connection issue with the science application which results in the heartbeat message. In past this would kill the task, but here it seems to have been able to recover and continue to regular completion. This is confirmed by your result status 'valid' with the credit near what was claimed. You see there too that 6 hour run time.

So, for no, no worries, but the proposal to go back to a reliable client release.
